some cool moments between Freddy and Jason but i feel the film really decided to take itself away from that and goes into your typical slasher flick with pretty much no other substance also some of the acting was less than stellar.

Yes, see your greatest villains united, or if rivalry is certainly something orgasmic. But unfortunately, it is anticipated that these ideas on film do not have the same splendor. And here we see clearly that the idea was not good, or was not well publicized. You should be very careful when putting together â Expand

This film is cliched and seems more like a violent cartoon than a horror film. Nothing is really that scary, the directing is pretty terrible and the death scenes unoriginal.

While overall this movie is average at best/worst there are just so many things about it that bug me. The characters (besides Freddy and Jason of course) are boring and aren't good actors, the plot while interesting just fails in execution and it really seems like the makers favored Jason, because the fights between the two are so onesided. Seriously even though they build up Freddy as being so evil they have to hide his existance in the fights they act as if Freddy is just a little **** as Jason beats him every time, even in the dream world he still manges to kick the crap out of him. Plus Freddy only kills ONE person the entire movie. Yeah Fail. I will however say that the best reason to watch this movie is for Robert Englund as you can tell he's having a blast in his final role as Freddy. Expand

Very amusing death sequences, but after 4 years or so in the making who the hell did they get to write that script. Fun but not in a good way...fans only.

If this movie was supposed to be a horror movie, it stunk, but if it was a comedy , it was great.

Parts of it were ok but as a whole, It just didn't live up. The first mistake was hiring a director that had no experience in the horror genre at all. The second mistake would be in the casting department. I'd have re-cast pretty much everyParts of it were ok but as a whole, It just didn't live up. The first mistake was hiring a director that had no experience in the horror genre at all. The second mistake would be in the casting department. I'd have re-cast pretty much every part of the film. There's a reason that they didn't bother making new films in either franchises for years and this is it. Expand

In one particular scene (where Freddy is in the real world), two characters stand there and sloooooowwly watch him move closer and closer, even though they have miles of forest behind them. In another, these same characters watch one guy get horrifically killed by Freddy, but they stand there at his gate screaming, not trying to at least break into his house and help him. Ugh. The final battle between the two killers is the highlight of the film, though, showering plenty of gore and limbs upon the audience, but it takes way too much time to get there and doesn't last long enough. While the gore is disgusting, Freddy is hilarious, and Jason is epic, the film focuses way too much on one-dimensional, boring characters, not a unlike Friday the 13th but uncharacteristic for Nightmare on Elm Street. Not too good. 4/10 Expand

It's a bummer we never got a better version of this movie. Freddy vs. Jason is the ultimate showdown between Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Fans should easily enjoy this showdown while the rest of us find out the movie's flaws.
