Feb 16, 20129The acting was amazing, the imagery superb. Although it can get boring, Howards End is a classic.

LaurenB.Jun 10, 20048Misses some important elements of the novel, however, a good attempt to grasp Forster's appeal for tolerance in an ever changing society.

[Anonymous]Sep 2, 20065Very disappointing - despite the lovely settings, powerful story and some of the best actors. Performances unconvincing, and less than had expected.

LaurieBAug 30, 200910This is simply an amazing film. The acting was so suberp, I was walking out of the house to go do something I had looked forward to all day, the film came on and within moments I was glued to my chair. Beautifully filmed and acted. Emma Thompson won every award known to man for this role including the oscar.

100Merchant and Ivory have regathered many of the cast and crew from their earlier films to work on this reproduction to exquisite effect.
-
70The filmmakers have allowed themselves an overlong 140 minutes in order to preserve as much of the plot as possible, but they have bypassed many of the novel's key ideas and ironies.

100The splendid cast embodies the characters so fully that the events actually seem to be happening to them, instead of unfolding from a screenplay.
