It is a fun and charming animated movie that has it's moments.

"Ice Age", unlike its frigid name, has a warm spirit of love and power that equals to those of Pixar's. A outstanding movie to watch.

"Set during the Ice Age, a sabertooth tiger, a sloth, and a wooly mammoth find a lost human infant, and they try to return him to his tribe." Y U get no Oscar for best screenplay? Anyway, I give this film 7 points out of 10.

The sabre tooth squirrel is great. The rest is Land Before Time on ice. Formula City. Can I take a nap now?

Although it's a kind of funny movie it tries to pass itself off as good via the thin novelty of computer animation - which it does an OK job of. oOverall I don't regret seeing it but it could have been much better, especially if the actors were encouraged to act rather than just read the scripts.

Very satisfying. I only don't give it a '9' or a '10' because it's not quite a 'masterpiece'... but I put it in the 'should-see' column all the same.

Okay, but not the greatest. Yes it was funny with a capital F for both children and adults alike. It was a bit predictable and many of the lines were corny. But it's worth-seeing.

Even though it was predictable, it was different. It had incredible warmth, and the lack of a better plot goes unnoticed with impeccable humour and wit in its place. Unforgettable.

[**Includes Potential Spoilers**] This movie was pathetically TRYING to do show you some of their so-called "excellent" efforts. First, the characters. They were TRYING to make the sloth, Sid, a wise-cracking, chatter-box, but didn't wasn't that the Donkey from "Shrek" who offered us that character who we'll probably remember for the rest of our life as he was one of the best characters in an animated film ever? Or how about the wolly mamoth, Manner (or Manny, or Manfred, or whatever your supposed to call him)? Didn't his personality and attitude remind you of Shrek of "Shrek"? And to top it all off, the "tear-jerker" of the movie. The movie was TRYING to be as heartwarming, and tear-jerking as "Monsters, Inc." but you just couldn't get that feeling when M (I wasn't sure what to call the mamoth so I settled for "M") remembers how his parents died, or when it looks as though Diego has died, or when M and co. bring the baby back to his dad. Please God, don't let 20th Century Fox ever make a computer-animated move again. Expand

Yes, this movie had some VERY funny moments, but it couldn't quench my thirst for a good movie. The story was a complete copy of "Monsters, Inc." and "Three Men and a Baby" and the characters were a complete copy of the ones from "Shrek". If you ask me, those characters and stories are only good ONCE. I was hoping Scrat would be one of the important characters, but he ended up being a character put in there for no reason whatsoever. It was a BIG mistake for us to see the baby's parents, it seemed to spoil the movie. I was hoping for a gorgeous setting, but I didn't get one. Expand

Hehe this was really funny. Throughout the movie I was either chuckling or laughing. I think guys did a very good job on this one, and even though the characters were nont quite original, their adventures paid for it. This movie is definitely a must, but i dun think it'll be as successful as Shrek though.

Unfairly savaged by critics because it wasn't made by Pixar or Disney, I have to wonder how much higher the rating would be if it was. Ice Age had me laughing more than any CGI or animated film in the last several years, and though some of the characters seem fairly stock at first, they are fleshed out with a lot of snappy dialogue and heart -- something those critics should seek out.

Not nearly as satisfying as Shrek or either Toy Story movie and certainly not as well animated either. It does have funny parts to it but the story and script seem to be holding back and fall to too many cliches.

(8.5) Great film. While it borrows heavily from its predecessors, it's also infused with its own personality, spirit and original gags, and this is what lifts the film out of the "ripoff barrel" and up to top level of filmmaking. The characters are engaging and unique, even though the relationships and storyline in general may not be so, the voice talent is appropriate, the animation is breathtaking, and the gags are plentiful. It's indeed a film that warrants repeated viewings because, like Shrek, it is doubtful you will pick up all the gags and subtle humour first time round. This film is a winner; it has charm, warmth and humour at its heart, and at the end of the day that is what shines through. Expand

Were the characters original??? No. Was the story sickeningly sweet and sappy??? You Bet! But was it funny and full of energy????? Uh-Huh. More than any other CG movie to come out in a long while. The laughs were mainly generated by site gags and, although, the script had some clever writing it was bogged down by an unsuccessful tearwrencher of a story! Two quarreling "bachelors" stumble upon a baby whom they try to take back to its family. The baby is spotted by a pack of hungry wolves who send someone to falsely befriend the "bachelors" and..........if you've seen "Three Men and A Baby" you get the idea. If you want to see this for a story you've got the wrong film. But if you want to see a movie w/ wonderful "perky" animation, fantastic characters, a handful of great puns, clever site-gags, and an all-star cast. This is the animated movie of the season!!! Not nearly as well animated as Shrek or Monsters, Inc (esp the later.) What really torks me about this flick is that its marketed as a Family Movie. We went with our 2 and 5 year olds, sitting in a crowd of pre-schoolers and parents when the Mom jumps off a cliff into a waterfall to escape from a sabertooth lion. She is seen later in the movie clinging to a branch, then is washed down river to her death. Later in the flick when the baby is brought back to the father, the crowd isn't clapping, its the sound of 100 preschoolers asking "where's the mommy?" You know, somehow spending my afternoon off discussing death with a 5 year old is NOT what I bargained for when we bought the tickets. Expand

Pretty good, not the greatest. This is best seen as a fiction adaptation of a nature documentary: the ice and snow and rocks in the landscape, not to mention the wildlife, overshadow the characters and their quest. Still, the characters are pretty decent and most if not all of the jokes work. Even though it's just two years old, the animation seems primitive, but in its own way it has a certain style. The bottom line: better than Shrek, not as good as Lilo & Stitch. Expand
