This movie is one of the most relentlessly nonstop action pictures ever made, with a virtuoso series of climactic sequences that must last an hour and never stop for a second. It's a roller-coaster ride, a visual extravaganza, a technical triumph, and a whole lot of fun.
The nonstop pace may eventually numb viewers to the thrills, although Spielberg must be congratulated for adding some shades of character to his archetypal action hero this time
around.
Moviegoers deserve more than the racism, sexism, and all-purpose mayhem on view here - failings that offset the razor-sharp action and technical brilliance also visible.
Spielberg has gone to such lengths to avoid boredom that he has leaped squarely into the opposite trap: this movie has such unrelenting action that it jackhammers you into a punch-drunk stupor. This may be the first movie whose audience O.D.'s on action. [4 June 1984, p.78]
The heroic irony that was hilarious in Raiders is merely ridiculous here, and the half-tribute/half-parody of the adventure genre is toyed with to threadbare extremes. [23 May 1984]
a thrilling adventure film that follows Indiana Jones (played by Harrison Ford) as he embarks on a quest to recover a sacred stone stolen from an Indian village. The film is filled with exciting action sequences and stunning set pieces, including a thrilling mine cart chase and a tense confrontation atop a bridge.
However, while the film is certainly entertaining, it does suffer from a few notable flaws. The characterizations of some of the supporting characters are a bit thin, and the portrayal of Indian culture has been criticized as stereotypical and insensitive. Additionally, the film's tone is notably darker than its predecessor, which may not appeal to all viewers.
Overall, while The 2nd Indiana Jones film is not without its flaws, it remains a classic adventure film that is sure to entertain fans of the genre. Its thrilling action sequences and iconic protagonist make it a must-watch for any fan of the Indiana Jones franchise.
Every time I watch this, it somehow gets worse! It's just a bunch of gross-out crap and close calls, like just about every 80s action/horror/adventure movie. The story is uninteresting, the characters, boring, and it's not funny in the least. Indiana Jones starts to get good during The Last Crusade.
I was told growing up that this movie wasn't quite as good as the original, and that the gore and violence was over the top. I'm so used to hyperbole that I expected the movie to not be that bad, but now that I've watched it I can confidently say that this movie is SIGNIFICANTLY worse than the original. Almost every scene is difficult to watch because of the violent imagery, and this is coming from someone who loved The Revenant. The plot is garbage, and revolves around Indiana Jones helping a Hindhu tribe get their magic stone back. Jones was apparently willing to risk the life of a young boy throughout this entire adventure, and it wasn't even for some greater good cause, it was so some Hindhu tribe could get their magic stone. Such a downgrade from the original.
