  1. Evokes grand emotions -- anxiety, sadness, joy -- sometimes within moments of one another. Broken Wings has heart and a poetic soul.
  2. That the story is so oldfashioned and domestic and the family so average and secular is, in its way, the wind beneath this Broken Wings.

If Israel needs a Mike Leigh to capture the angst of its silently suffering working class, it could do far worse than Nir Bergman.

  1. This movie was absolutely superb the soundtrack was absolutely amazing and both the story acting as well as directing were absolutely superb. This movie is a realistic portrayal of what happens to a family that is dealing with a great tragedy. It also shows how important it is for families and people to communicate with one and other in order to have a good relationship with one and other. This movie made it very easy to see things from the point of view of each of the characters. The amazing dialogue and lack of dialogue at times added so much the movie as well and really helped to express the inner anguish of all of the characters. The chromatography of this movie was truly amazing as well and the way it was filmed made the audience fell as if they are a part of the landscape. Although this movie is categorized as a drama their is a certain feeling to it that does not have the audience have the audience totally feel dreadful and sad while watching it. This movie is truly moving, and is perhaps one of the best movies I have ever seen. Expand

Forget politics and war, this israeli production has the sense of universality in a classic tale about grievance, loss and mourning. in the tradition of films like "in the bedroom", "in america", "the return" and the fabulous "the son´s room", "knafayim shvurot" (its original title) is a sad and devastating portrait of the survival of a family full of loneliness. desolating and realistic but ultimately hopeful, this film feels great and sad at the same time; however there´s a sense of the typical ending in this kind of movies: good ending, a little bittersweet and a lot of hope (feel-good movie) and that´s a little bit manipulating to me.
