    2/5★ Make Your Move
The dance movie had been an audience favorite since the beginnings of cinema but lately they have begun to become indistinguishable- boy dancer meets girl dancer, events conspire to keep them apart, they use dance to overcome hardships and to win at love and/or a dance contest. The dance movie had been an audience favorite since the beginnings of cinema but lately they have begun to become indistinguishable- boy dancer meets girl dancer, events conspire to keep them apart, they use dance to overcome hardships and to win at love and/or a dance contest. The Step Up series, Save The Last Dance etc. all share that basic formula and are successful to varying degrees. However, the earlier films usually had better writing and acting, while the later films have more intense and sophisticated dance routines. Make Your Move has some terrible writing and acting.
I found the tap dance/Japanese drumming combination original but tap dancing just doesn't have the same oomph that choreographed hip-hop or breakdancing routines do.

Verdict: For the non discerning dance fan.

Plot: A pair of star-crossed dancers in New York find themselves at the center of a bitter rivalry between their brothers' underground dance clubs. --IMDB

    A slick, disposable soap opera.

Overlong and lacking a single believable moment, Make Your Move is nevertheless a sweet reminder that anyone can dance together, so long as they aren’t fighting over who should lead.

A movie like Make Your Move rests on the success of its various dance sequences, not its plot. And the dancing here is exciting, innovative, and specific.
