The performances are broad; the comedy is mainly slapstick. The politics are nationalist and vaguely left-wing.

More of a curio than a classic and it takes the strongest of constitutions to endure this film without entertaining notions of matricide

Arguably, and I say that because Bollywood has changed from this movie to the present day. Mother India has been bashed by critics, however, this is the Greatest Bollywood Movie, and perhaps one of the best Foreign Films known to man. Had we used sources from India, they would say the same. The movie appears simple, but the few elements present in the movie make it hard to beat for any Drama Film known. Expand
