  • Summary: Smart, beautiful and headstrong, Alexis is the girl of Dustin’s dreams. But after only five weeks of dating, the love-struck Dustin is coming on so strong that Alexis is forced to slow things down – permanently. Devastated and desperate to get her back, Dustin turns to his best friend, Tank, the rebound specialist. A master at seducing – and offending – women, Tank gets hired by freshly dumped guys to take their ex-girlfriends out on the worst date of their lives – an experience so horrible it sends them running gratefully back to their beaus. But when Tank works his magic on Alexis, he ends up meeting the challenge of a lifetime. Alexis is the first girl who knows how to call his bluff, and Tank soon finds himself torn between his loyalty to Dustin and a strange new attraction to his best friend’s girl. (Lionsgate)

Manages to distract auds from the predictability of the plot with fusillades of profanely funny dialogue and some playfully sexy chemistry generated by Cook and Hudson.
  2. Eventually the conventions of romantic comedy take hold, with the humor declining precipitously.

The actors (especially Alec Baldwin, as Tank's horndog dad) elevate the material slightly, but such piffle will just fill you with longing...for a better movie.

Dane Cook plays a smug jerk in the dismal comedy My Best Friend's Girl. Strike that: He's only ACTING like a smug jerk.

Say what you will about comedian-turned-actor Cook, the man is a force of nature, a tornado of verbal gymnastics and physical contortions who will do anything for a laugh.

Tank's whole shtick is taking advantage of stupid women's desire to live in banal romantic comedies, but the film he's in is just as bad as any other Hudson movie.

There's a cheap thrill in watching Hudson defuse Cook's pig antics with some foulness of her own.

    Much funnier than expected. Much.

Dane Cook at one time was a funny man. His album "Harmful If Swallowed" still makes me laugh to this day, but he's been riding off the success of his early exploits for years. It's too bad he became the "nickelback of comedy" because "My Best Friend's Girl" was one of the best comedies I've seen it years. It goes for the jugular, it's really funny and it's structure is totally original. I hate the poor press surrounding this film. If hollywood politics had nothing to do with this film, it would be seen as this generations "Annie Hall" with a cynical vibe. This is an excellent, original comedy that sacrifices everything for the punchline. It's more than worth your time.

I need to point out an issue. Rael, if you're going to negatively review a film, it's "absolute DRIVEL" not "DRIBBLE" there's a very big difference between those two words.

This movie was spectacular. Dane Cook was amazing, and sexy, as always. As I was sitting there in my seat, watching this amazing movie, I could barely contain my excitement *wink wink*. I have only one word for this movie- Excellent. Expand

This movie is no classic but it succeeds in making you chuckle. The actors give amusing performances and
that is what you expect from a
raunchy romantic-comedy. The 10 steps segment featured twice in the movie with Cook is very funny. The broken radio part is also very funny because the radio isn't broken, but he tells
    Hudson it is.

Fair romantic comedy, rather predictable. No one in the cast stands out, Dane Cook as a hunky irresistible guy is certainly not the best casting choice. Good score. Kate Hudson can do better. Expand

I walked in the movies expecting this movie to be something worth talking about later but walked out disgusted. It had a weak plot, it was crude and predictable. It was a waste of time, money, and gas. Expand

Kate Hudson makes really great movies (especially with Matthew McConaughey)! Also, Dane Cook is really funny! His humor is so smart and cutting edge! He doesn't steal other people's material and pass it off as his own, and his jokes aren't just exaggerated stories! Also, Jason Biggs is a great actor who has appeared in many fine movies! The "American" series is a criminally underrated series! Expand
