This movie is incredibly done! I've saw it five times and then bought it on DVD, making it my favorite movie of all time! While the dubbing is so-so, which is to be expected, the fight sequences are like poetry in motion. While sometimes out of the ordinary, the fighting moves are not as odd looking as "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." The storyline is average but not horrible. In the Chinese version (subtitles), you get more details about the storyline than in the English version. Overall, this movie is awesome. I would suggest it to anybody. The fighting is very dramatic and impressive, and that's what counts the most in a movie like this. Expand

As much as I like Jet Li, I'd have to say that this is not one of his better movies. I like Jet Li in roles that aren't so passive and "I hate to resort to violence" type of character. After seeing a lot of his movies, this is the role I don't care to see him in. I prefer his kick-butt, toughman roles. If there is anything good about this movie, it is the plot. It was well-written and executed. Expand

It's a good one. The ladder fight at the end sticks with me in particular.

Good for a 13 yr old, lots of action, some good scenery, but drags on.

It's funny, It's awesome and it's Jet li. The storyline is a bit screwed up, so much so that sometimes you can't seem to get on which side someone is on. For example, foon. It maybe due to discrepancies in languages. It's got a good balance of everything. Some parts are pointless and stupid, I have to admit. But all the kick ass moves of Jet li compensates enuf for it all. Although more action would've been expected in this one. Expand

The action is lightning-fast and balletically staged, living up to the choreographic potential often claimed--but seldom truly realized--for martial arts pictures by their highbrow admirers.

Gets better as it goes along, building up to a prolonged shipboard finale.

Once the action kicks in -- starting with an extraordinary balletic fight in the rain featuring the two masters and a flying wooden beam -- you can't take your eyes off the screen.
