Absolutely the worst movie I have seen to date. An embarrassment for such high profile names to show up in in such a bomb! Guess it goes to show that not all Hollywood flicks are golden treasures.

Solid but somehow empty expose of behind-the-scenes political engineering. The show is watchable because no one can play a strung-out character like Pacino, but I was not convinced that Pachino's character would suddenly have a crises of conscience in a career path he had bought into for 30 years. The attraction between Pacino and Basinger was forced to the hilt and still did not come off. No, that's not right. More precisely, it was awful. Expand

A modern day "Death of a Salesman." Al Pacino at the end of his rope as a down and out PR man in New York. The movie has a lot to say about celebrity and its vices, about public face of the famous and the dark truths of fame and power-brokering that happen out of the public eye, and also about how those on the fringes can be tossed away and easily forgotten. The other reviewers here should go back to waiting in anticipation for the next "American Pie" or "Mummy" or whatever it is that doesn't invite them to think for more than five minutes. Expand

This movie makes it to the bottom of the pit of the 10 worst movies I have ever seen. It is so utterly boring that I fell asleep. What was it about?....i dunno. Who was the 'bad guy'?....i dunno? What emotions did I experience while watching it? Again...."I dunno". Why was this movie even made? You got it....I Don't Know. It made me feel like I was wrapped up in an old, moldy carpet stained with old gin and dates from the 50's. Expand

The picture has a lax, sleepy vibe: There's never anything taut or electric about it. And so, like Pacino's character, we sleepwalk through it.

Although a marked improvement over Algrant's nightmarishly whimsical debut, "Naked in New York," People I Know is perfumed less by the sweet smell of success than the musty aroma of the Miramax vault.
  3. As it is, the story collapses like a bad tip to Liz Smith. Still, there's something brash, retro, and even stupidly touching about all the chatty mania, and the way Baitz and Pacino get off on paranoia, conspiracy theories, and the lure of 1960s idealism.
