Rereading Greene's book, one is struck anew by the absolute perfection of the film's casting.

About halfway through I began to imagine it as it might have been directed by Douglas Sirk as a vehicle for Jane Wyman and Rock Hudson.
  3. "I didn't write this." In heaven, Graham Greene is mumbling those same words over and over right now.

  1. really good romance movie (don't know how it compares to the book though). the acting (really great performance by Ian Hant as Mr. Parkis), writing, directing was really good, but the editing was really flawed (imo). and a movie like this would rely on good editing, it was something hard to establish what was the past and what was the present (but after a while you can figure it out). but overall a great movie, 9.7 Expand
