[An] extraordinary documentary, nothing at all like what I was expecting to see. Here is not a sick and drugged man forcing himself through grueling rehearsals, but a spirit embodied by music. Michael Jackson was something else.

This Is It delivers neither the full-on Jackson stage experience or a revealing portrait of his complex mindset. Yet it does not dishonour his memory and you can't deny the power of the music.

Neither a concert film nor a documentary but a ghoulish "event" offered just in time for Halloween, This is It is sadly -- and reprehensively, if you ask me -- the movie equivalent to the National Enquirer's infamous post-mortem shot of Elvis Presley.

I gave 5 for this movie and that goes completly for Michael's effort. I saw him doing everything he could to make his fans happy. But as an ardent fan who had watched his making of Ghost and Thriller, this fell far short.May be because Michael did not direct it. One thing is for sure. Ortega may be a great director but he has a lot to learn from Michael. I had a nagging feeling that it was not complete. something was missing. I expected to see more enjoyment. That was not the normal Michael and Ortega constantly calling him "Sir" seemed so artificial. It failed to capture Michael's ingenious and creativity. Michael is a person who overlooks all aspects of his performance. If you watch the makings of any of his music videos you will see this clearly. But this did not capture it. 5 for Michael's performance none for Ortega's directing. Expand

This movie was a shameful money grab. Pure and simple. They wanted to make money pulling on the heart strings of MJ's many fans from around the world. This is a total disgrace to his memory, and the people who made this movie should be ashamed of themselves. If you are a fan of MJ, do yourself a favor, listen to his CD's dance around your living room, but do not waste your time and money on this movie, so a few greedy heartless people can profit from his death.
