  1. 100
Walk the Line superbly combines music and two of the year's most riveting performances to tell one of the screen's great love stories.
  2. 88
What adds boundless energy to Walk the Line is the performance by Reese Witherspoon as June Carter Cash.
  3. A big, juicy, enjoyable wide-canvas biography with a handful of indelible moments.
  4. Cash was a true anomaly: a poseur who was also the genuine article. A better movie would have made that contradiction its core.
  5. 75
Conventional to the core but gets a blast of pure, hard-driving energy from Joaquin Phoenix's and Reese Witherspoon's vividly realized performances.
  6. The movie is less an uncharted journey than a 2 p.m. bus tour of a music industry legend. But like an expert guide, Mangold shepherds the story with enough grace, energy and skill to make it worthwhile.
  7. There is no way a feature-length movie could do justice to such bounty, and Walk the Line settles for the minimum.

Completely Spellbinding, Witherspoon & Pheonix Are Amazing And Deliver Their Best Performances To Date. Choice Of Songs In The Movie Were Great And Really Note The Progression Of Cash's Music. Look Out For When He Performs At Folsom Prison, Excellent Scene. Top Movie Best Of The Year! Expand

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, walk the line. in entertaining movie with a good message. Don't do speed or you will lose everything but gain a wife. Even so the main part of the movie was to shoe that he walked the line, been to the worst place almost any Artist could go and came out of it. He was the first person that people said was messed up in the music biz. Expand

Reese Witherspoon gets noticed more for her performance (which is wonderful) but Joaquin Phoenix is amazing in the way he inhabits Johnny Cash so that it doesn't even seem performance. Wonderfully done. Expand

So it might not be the best movie of the year, but both Phoenix and Witherspoon gave a great performance. I was pleasantly surprised, considering I m not a country fan. Very enjoyable. Collapse

In a year thats typically overcrowded with potential Best Actor nominees, Joaquin Phoenix gives a performance that virtually guaratees him a place on the short list come January, but in Walk The Line, it is Reese Witherspoon who changes from box office movie star to the frontrunner for Academy Award winning actress! I don't know how, but she manages to steal the film right out from under the actor playing, brilliantly at that, Johnny Cash himself. Expand
