  • Starring: Danny McBride, James Franco, Zooey Deschanel
  • Summary: Throughout history, tales of chivalry have burnished the legends of brave, handsome knights who rescue fair damsels, slay dragons and conquer evil. But behind many a hero is a good-for-nothing younger brother trying just to stay out of the way of those dragons, evil and trouble in general. Danny McBride and James Franco team up for an epic comedy adventure set in a fantastical world--"Your Highness." As two princes on a daring mission to save their land, they must rescue the heir apparent's fiancée before their kingdom is destroyed. (Universal Pictures)

Your Highness is awfully vulgar fun when it works, which is much of the time (although it could've benefited from a few judicious cuts here and there).

To fully appreciate the extreme lowness of Your Highness, it's best to accept that this sometimes witless and sometimes winning comedy has absolutely no socially redeeming value.

An exhaustingly pushy, phallocentric and witlessly smutty spoof of early '80s medieval fantasies such as "Krull" and "The Beastmaster."

By comparison to this effort, "Pineapple Express" seems like a model of thoughtful maturity.

  1. Well, you have to go into this movie knowing that it is going to be raunchy and tasteless and crude. If you accept that and are willing to forget about propriety, it is a hell of a lot of fun to watch some relatively serious actors/actresses perform in this crazy satire and sendup of chivalry. Don't be a snob; enjoy the intentionally silly and somewhat vulgar but never mean-spirited romp. Expand
  2. I usually agree with the critical consensus, but this movie was hilarious to me (I also thought Source Code was a horribly uninspired film a la Inception). A lot of it is low brow humor, but I enjoy that sometimes. The actors delivery was all great, the main downfall was the writing. At times it was as if some scenes were supposed to be fairly serious, which doesn't really work when the rest of the film is comedic scenes. Expect a lot of dick jokes. Expand
  3. The comedy and storytelling in this film was solid. The main reason that most people didn't like this movie is because it was too sexual for them. Honestly there are several cringe worthy moments. Overall the movie is hilarious and unique. Danny McBride and Franco are great as always. Expand
  4. The movie is OCCASIONALLY funny. After that, "Your Highness" is pure crap.
