During the 1980s Hove did several television and film appearances and stage work in Denmark and had created a lucrative acting career. In the late 80s he uprooted his family and moved to the United States to try a career in acting. He was able to land parts in "Tales From the Crypt" and "Critters 4" amongst others but became most popular to American fans in two roles he landed while in the USA. Hove landed the part of the obsessive, ruthless spy Cesar Faison on "General Hospital" where he played the role for three years. During this time a co-star, Michael Watson landed a part in Full Moon's "Subspecies" vampire flick. Watson played the good hearted vampire Stefan and suggested that Hove be selected to play the evil, deformed, vampire Radu Vladislas. Watson may have been the romantic lead, but Hove stole the movie and starred in the next three installations of the "Subspecies" quadrilogy. A fifth installation has been written but has been put on the back-burner while the company works out financial problems.
In the mid-90s Hove returned to Denmark and continued to do movies, television and stage work there. He was asked by "General Hospital" to revive Cesar Faison and moved back to the states. He had planned on taking his family but his wife acquired an important seat on the Danish Council of the Arts for a four year term so Hove returned to Los Angeles sans family and roomed with GH veteran Kin Shriner.
Missing his family and not happy with what was being done with his character, Hove only stayed for little under a year and returned to Denmark shortly before 1999 rolled into 2000. He has continued to do movies, television and stage work there. Rumours abound that he will return to America to reprise Cesar Faison on "All My Children" since his main obsession, Anna Devane (played by Finola Hughes) has resurfaced alive and well from the boat explosion Faison had supposedly killed her in. The rumours aren't off base as the possibility of a Faison return is something AMC would love to do but there are no definite plans to get Hove back in the immediate future.
In 1980, Anders married American dancer/choreographer Ann Thayer Crosset (who apparently makes an appearance dancing in the recent Lars Von Trier movie "Dancer in the Dark"). The couple have two teen-aged sons, Anders 15, and Elliot 13. They continue to live and work in Copenhagen.
