David Kelly

Biography: David Kelly, born David William Kelly, was an Irish actor. He was born on July 11, 1929 in Dublin, Ireland. He made his screen debut in a small part in John Pomeroy's noir Dublin Nightmare (1958). His film credits include The Italian Job (1969), The Jigsaw Man (1983), the Matchmaker (1997), and Laws of Attraction (2004). He starred in television shows such as Emmerdale Farm in the 1980s and Glenroe in the 1990s. He also made a guest appearance on the BBC Radio 4 series Baldi and lent his voice to the partly animated film, The Light Princess (1978). He won the Helen Hayes Award in 1991 for Outstanding Supporting Performer for The Playboy of the Western World. He also earned a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Waking Ned (1998). He was awarded the Irish Film & Television Academy's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005 and also earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for the film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005).
