David Strathairn

Biography: David Straitharn, is a critically acclaimed American actor. Straitharn graduated from Williams College in 1970, after which he studied clowning at the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Clown College in Florida. Straitharn first received wide recognition for his role in John Sayles' movie, Return of the Secaucus Seven in 1979. He would continue to work with Sayles over the years, while at the same time building a prolific career as an actor in high-profile Hollywood movies such as At Close Range, A League of Their Own and L.A. Confidential. His career reached its pinnacle when he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his portrayal of newsman Edward R. Murrow in George Clooney's movie, Good Night, and Good Luck. In addition to working in film, Straitharn has enjoyed a long career in the theater. Straitharn is also an accomplished musician, recording with such bands as Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Dawes.
