Elizabeth Hess

Biography: Elizabeth Hess was raised in Ontario, Canada in a strict Mennonite Missionary family. She moved to New York in her early twenties and has worked there steadily since. Elizabeth (not Liz) has dedicated her carrer mostly to the theatre since starring on Clarissa Explains It All for five seasons. She recently starred Off-Broadway, regionally and internationally in her first one-woman play Birth Rite. Her many Broadway and Off-Broadway credits include: M Butterfly, Life Game, Beggars in the House of Plenty, and Jack. Her television appearences since Clarissa include Law & Order, The Guiding Light, All My Children, and Another World. She has starred in the indepent films A Bed Time Story, Italian Lessons and Buddy & Grace. Hess is also an accomplished playwright and screenwriter. She currently teaches undergratue acting at both NYU and Fordham University in New York City.
