John DiResta

Biography: John DiResta was a New York City Police Officer for 12 years, nine with the Transit Police and three with the NYPD, before becoming an actor\comedian.
He used his police experiences first by turning to stand-up comedy and creating the off-Broadway hit Beat: A Subway Cop's Comedy. In 1994, John won the tile, "New York's Funniest Police Officer". He also developed and starred in his own television series, "DiResta", which aired on the UPN Network.
In the spring of 1998 John resigned from the Transit Police after twelve years. He moved his wife and three kids to sunny, Studio City, California. John's sitcom, "DiResta", ran on UPN for one season. It became the lowest rated sitcom in the history of TV, Welcome To Hollywood. Since then move, John has appeared in numorous movies, television shows, late night talk shows, and even was a guest on the King of all Media, The Howard Stern Show. John is happy about the move out west. "You know, we're all doing great out here. There were a lot of dark days being a cop and not having any money. I came out here to do something I love and with a deal in place so I don't have to live in my car like a lot of comics do," says DiResta. "And my dressing room on the Paramount lot used to be Sherman Hemsley's so I've got to be moving on up."
