Josh Charles

Biography: Josh Charles was born Joshua Aaron Charles in Baltimore, Maryland on the 15th of September 1971. The son of Allan, an advertising executive, and Laura, a gossip columnist, Josh and his brother Jeff were raised in the bustling city of Baltimore. Josh's career in the entertainment industry has roots going all the way back to when he was eight years old and allegedly began performing stand up comedy. As a teenager, Josh worked for a performing arts company in New York called Stagedoor Manor. It was his success with them that earnt him his film debut in Hairspray (1988) and the role that put him in the public eye, Knox Overstreet in Dead Poets Society. In 1998, after several dormant years, Josh was cast in one of the leading roles in Aaron Sorkin's television dramedy Sports Night as the character Dan Rydell. The show ran for two years on ABC until it was sadly canceled even though it had won several awards and had been critically acclaimed.
