Laura Vandervoort

Biography: Laura Vandervoort, more popularly known as Supergirl in the CW series Smallville was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. As a child, she was involved in several sports and athletic activities. She even earned her second-degree black belt in karate at age 16. Along with her interest in sports was her inclination towards performing arts. And after seeing a film called My Girl from her aunt, Laura was driven to become an actress.

She then took several acting sessions and did background work on Canadian shows. She soon made her three-episode television debut on Goosebumps and guest-starred on Are You Afraid of the Dark?. After which, Laura appeared in the Disney TV movies Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire and Alley Cats Strike. At age 19, Laura landed her first lead role as Sadie Harrison in the CTV series Instant Star. After a few more guest appearances and film projects, Laura was cast as Kara, the cousin of Clark Kent, in the CW hit series Smallville, playing the
