Biography:
Lucy Liu was born to Chinese immigrants in Queens in 1968. She graduated from College with a degree in Asian Studies and a big interest in Acting.
She auditioned for every part she found, but found it difficult not to be typecast as the Oriental Girl. By 1998, Liu had been to hundreds of auditions, and had only landed small roles on Jerry Maguire and TV shows such as ER. All that was about to change, however.
She originally auditioned for the role of Nelle Porter on Ally McBeal, and went up against stiff competition. She lost the part but show producer David E Kelley was so impressed that he wrote a guest starring role just for her. The part of politicallly incorrect and absolutely hilarious Ling Woo was so poular Liu stayed on as a full time cast member for four years.
After Ally McBeal, Liu became one of the best known Hollywood actresses, starring in big flicks Charlie's Angels and Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill.
