acting. After leaving school at 17, Richardson enrolled at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School where she studied for three years alongside Daniel Day-Lewis among others. Extensive stage experience preceeded her star-making role as Ruth Ellis in 'Dance with a Stranger', a film that won the rising English actress an Evening Standard British Film Award for Best Actress. All of these roles won Miranda much critical attention and numerous accolades, most notably a BAFTA and Academy Award nomination for 'Damage', and a Golden Globe for 'Enchanted April'. Two years later, she played Vivienne Haigh-Wood in the biopic 'Tom & Viv', a film which won her yet another Academy Award nomination.
