Rebecca Street

Biography: Rebecca Street is a professional actress based in Los Angeles. She began her career in the theatre and has extensive stage experience, including a season at the famed Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. She has guest starred in numerous television episodics from Buffalo Bill and Remington Steele to Sirens, LA Law, Murder She Wrote, Civil Wars, Promised Land, ER, and Felicity. She was also a series regular on The Young and the Restless for two years - playing the first daytime character with AIDS. She has done several features, including her costarring role with Eric Roberts in Lonely Hearts and has been a principal in over forty commercials. Rebecca has directed 18 plays – both modern and classical and has studied with many renowned teachers: Lee Strasberg, Bobbi Lewis, Michael Shurtleff, Roy London, and Larry Moss

Prior to becoming an actress, Rebecca taught English at Central High School in Washington, D.C. where she was voted "Most Outstanding Teacher". Her passion for education has continued through the years and she has taught Scene Study and Technique Seminars at various theatre venues and was a member of the faculty at the University of Judaism. She has also taught Poetry Writing at the Aviva Center.
A social activist, Rebecca has served on the Boards of both Shanti and the Neighborhood Youth Association and currently Chairs the Advisory Board of PATH (People Assisting the Homeless). At PATH, she directed a group of homeless men in a highly lauded showcase of talent, PATH Presents Poetry, and also acted as celebrity M.C. for their 2003 fundraiser. She conceived and chaired an event to rebuild the libraries after the 1992 civil unrest, ART FROM ASHES, in which many noted LA artists participated, including: Laddie Jon Dill, Sandow Birk, and Robbie Conal. Rebecca was also a panelist in a UCLA forum, titled "Real to Reel: The Medias Response to Women with AIDS", and has performed in benefits for people with AIDS across the country and at the Wilshire Ebel in LA.
For pleasure, Rebecca sings in St. Agatha's Gospel Choir which performs annually at The House of Blues. She also enjoys painting and printmaking, attended the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C., and has sold her silk screens. Rebecca Street is the proud mother of two children - Abbot, a writer, and Amanda, an actress and photographer.
