She went on to do various other parts on and off Broadway, as well as landing roles on television shows (such as Law and Order) and then on the critically acclaimed show I'll Fly Away (1991). Taylor played the role of Lilly Harper on this short lived show, but quickly became an audience favorite. She has starred in such movies as Lean On Me, Losing Isaiah, Clockers, Courage Under Fire, and The Negotiator. Taylor is also an accomplished playwright.
