Biography: Elected the thirty-seventh President of the United States of America, Richard Millhouse Nixon was a conservative politician from Yorba Linda, California. Best known for the famous Watergate scandal, Nixon is the only President to ever resign from the US Presidency.Nixon to this day remains one of the most successful politicians despite his scandal, being the only person in US history to be elected twice to both the offices of Vice President (1952 and '56) and President ('68 and '72).In the 1972 Presidential election, Nixon easily defeated Democratic candidate George McGovern, grabbing a whopping 520 of a possible 538 electoral votes. He also gathered roughly 61% of the popular vote that year.Nixon was married to Pat Nixon. Richard lived about a year longer than his wife.On April 22nd, 1994, Richard Millhouse Nixon's life came to a streaking hault as he suffered a severe stroke in New York City, New York. Nixon was 81 years of age.
