Robert Carlyle

Biography: Carlyle's mother left him when he was four, leaving his father Joseph to raise him in Maryhill, Scotland. He enrolled in acting classes in 1982 and within a matter of years became one of Britain's most talented (if unappreciated) actors. After landing a small role in Silent Scream (1990), Carlyle began developing a large body of work, appearing in the TV series' Cracker (in a guest appearance as depressed socialist/serial killer Albie Kinsella), which is considered his breakthrough role; and Hamish Macbeth (in the title role), long with a growing number of films (including the controversial Priest and Trainspotting), before his award-winning (and probably most famous) role as "Gaz" Schofield in The Full Monty. He also won acclaim for his roles in Angela's Ashes and super-terrorist Renard in The World Is Not Enough. In 2009, Robert was cast in Stargate Universe as Dr. Nicholas Rush.
