Ronald Pickup is one of Britain's most recognisable character actors and is highly respected for his work on stage and screen.
Born in Oldham on 7 June 1941, Ronald attended The King's School, Chester. He was trained at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, making his official stage debut in 1967. A renowned 'cal' actor, he has appeared in many Shakespeare productions playing roles such as Richard The Second, Henry the IV and even Rosalind in As You Like It. He gained great critical acclaim in 1984 for his performance as Titus Andronicus in a BBC television production of the play.
Ronald also has many notable television credits to his name. In 1987, he starred in the BBC multi-million pound adaptation of Olivia Manning's Balkan Trilogy as impoverished Prince Yakimov. Later in 1993, he played Roger Tundish in the BBC hit comedy/ drama The Riff Raff Element. He has also guest starred in numerous top shows such as Inspector Morse, Sea of Souls and Holby City.
