Terry McGurrin

Biography: Born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Terry is the youngest of a four child family. Although the entire McGurrin family has an exceptional sense of humour Terry was the the only one stupid enough to desire the sad, lonely and impoverished lifestyle that can only come from being an Canadian entertainer.

He started his comedy career in High School when he joined the Improv Team and competed in The Canadian High School Improv Games, an annual cross Canada tournament the holds its finals at the National Arts Center in Ottawa. Singled out by press and peers Terry decided to stay with it. Since that time, Terry has performed comedy on stage and screen and in many styles: improv, sketch, and stand up. He was recently featured at the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival where he won the title of Best Stand Up for Central Canada. Terry is kept going by the fact that the roles and opportunities keep getting bigger and he gets closer and closer to landing the BIG ONE. He may not be a household name yet, but he has all the right stuff to become one. In 2000, while living in Los Angeles, he went on an audition for MAD-TV (him and a few thousand other comedians). Several call backs followed and a two months later Terry was one of the five that FOX executives were making their final decision from. He was also the first choice in Canada for a role in the Spielberg/Hanks production Band of Brothers. Slightly devestated he didn't get the part? You would think so but all he said to me was "Hey, how many people can say that they ever had Speilberg and Hanks even watch them audition? I can." You certainly wont find a more positive way to look at it, and that is why I hope that the next big one that comes along wont slip through his fingers. Until then he will just keep on pluggin' along enjoying the fact that he gets to do what so many dream of, paying his rent and bills as an entertainer, touring Canada and making them laugh.
