The sound is very disturbing in a Nine Inch Nails sort of way—very cool and very brooding, fitting in perfectly with the game.

The courses are well designed, the control is fantastic, and the graphics will ruin your eyes for every other PS2 launch game. Mix all that in with a game that is just flat out fun to play and you've got a recipe for hours of drooling in front of your TV, PS2 controller in hand, wetnaps close by.

The voice acting is simply amazing. Unlike most video games, much of the voice acting is done by fairly famous names, including Joe Pantoliano, Michael Rapaport, Kyle MacLachlan... Each delivers some of the best voice acting found in anything animated, let alone video games.

Take the same awesome game play from the first two incarnations, pump up the frame rate to a blistering 60 frames per second, add larger more addictive levels that are full of life and imagination, and enhance the graphics.

This is the Next Big Thing that roleplaying fans have been waiting for.

You’ll be hard pressed to find another game that even comes close to matching the quality found in Kingdom Hearts. Games just don’t come as beautiful and well thought out as this, it’s a virtual masterpiece that excels in every way possible.

The best part of the whole thing is, you become so comfortable with the controls that the movements feel like a natural extension of your body. You’ll find your self ducking your head every time a bullet whizzes by you during a gunfight.

A game that just does everything right. Story, pacing, graphics, gameplay—all of these combine artfully to make a gaming experience that supercedes any other game I’ve come across this year.

I loved Castlevania: Circle of the Moon, as I've loved every other Castlevania game. The gameplay, which is the most important factor in a game, is right on.

Its combination of easy controls, high replayability, and large depth, will keep players coming back for more for a long time to come.

The graphics are amazing - as in better than what you've seen on a PC. They are just incredible to look at and you'll drool in awe.

Even though the game is more than three months old it still manages to retain a special part on my shelf, the part that never gathers dust. As it stands right now, we have an early contender for my vote of Game of the Year.

"NASCAR Heat" and "Project Gotham Racing" had their graphical moments, but they can't hold a candle to RalliSport Challenge. This game is incredible in how gorgeous it is.

The enemy AI is the most advanced enemy AI in a game yet.

This is also a rare case where a console-to-PC port actually turned out for the better.

What started out as a 10-minute compatibility check turned into an all-night rampage, after I got past all the bugs that is.

In a move that shows the team’s dedication to the project, the game sees a slew of updates, even though the game is nearly a year old...The game runs beautifully with the only negatives coming in the obvious lag issues that tend to plague online games.

The AI, for one thing, needs some work. The computer drive cars don’t have any personality meaning that they follow a specific path and just bump their way around. It’s like watching the guys in the movie "Swingers" driving, but at a higher speed and a little more violent.

You’ll be glad to know that the flamethrower isn’t the only great weapon at your disposal. The venom, which is a devastatingly powerful chain-gun, is one of the most amazing guns I’ve ever had the pleasure to handle in a video game.

Although there are still more titles to be released, I’m not quite sure that any of them will be able to compete with the high standard that EA has set with their latest offering, the bar has been raised.

By far, it is the best racing game I've seen on the PlayStation 2.

This game is for hardcore freaks who like their games deep and complex, and who don't mind spending most of their time in the garage perfecting their death machines before they actually do any killing.

Usually a person will hate a game when they lose at it on a consistent basis, the case is completely different here. This is just a testament of how fun and gripping this game is to play.

I am very impressed at the level of depth this game provides. If there’s anything to complain about, it’s the fact that you can't 'manage-only' – you must race your horse.

To put it simply, Morrowind is truly a game of epic proportions and will most likely only be finished by the most hardcore of gamers.

The best F1 sim to date. Featuring true to life physics and tight gripping gameplay, it’s only weakness lies in the insanely astronomical system requirements.

This game isn’t perfect, however, I found that the running game was a little too stingy for my tastes. I had a hard time breaking a run for more than 10 yards and more often than not, the gaps in the defense would close far too fast.

What makes this game look and feel so different from the competition is its amazing ability to render realistic looking environments.

The true first gem of the year 2002 and depriving yourself of the privilege of playing this game is a crime punishable by death in some third world countries (not really).

Simply amazing.

It's not going to look and run as well as it does on an Athlon 1Ghz with a GeForce 2 Ultra, but for PlayStation 2 owners, it's one of the best FPS games out there at launch.

Never before have I played a game as compelling as The Sims. This game will provide you with emotional experiences that you could never imagine from a video game.

I’m not sure what it is but this game is just so much fun, maybe it’s the lack of shooting games available nowadays or the inclusion of the foot pedal, but this game is just so much fun.

Z-Axis and Acclaim have done something really special here in that they’ve turned an absolutely mundane sport, like rollerblading, and turned it into an exciting and exhilarating experience that you won’t soon want to put down.

Tecmo may not be offering the most beautiful or technically advanced soccer game on the market but whatever it is, it’s a hell of a lot of fun.

Combine excellent gameplay and some of the most in-depth gaming modes with the vocal talents of the legendary Vin Scully and what do you get? You get one hell of a baseball title.

All in all, Mario Kart Super Circuit takes the crown from "Advance GTA" as the top portable racing title, and has finally topped the SNES version in regards to overall fun factor.

A highly engrossing story told by a set of very unique characters that come to life with witty and intriguing dialogue. If you're looking for a game that doesn't focus too much on pretty cinematics, but rather, interesting plot development and engrossing gameplay then look no further.

The game is the perfect combination of action and strategy-you do have to push buttons, but you have to push the right buttons at the right time.

You’ll have fun, and you’ll get a portable taste of gaming history that will remind you of why we’re doing all this fiddling around with these plastic doohickeys in the first place.

Not only is it very realistic in it’s approach to the game, it is, hands down, the most fun and funniest golf game I have played.

What differentiates Hunter from the other titles is the creativity in the weapons and monsters and something I like to call the 'oh (expletive)' factor. The 'oh (expletive)' factor is that 'oh my god' feeling when you see the amazing monsters scare the crap out of you in the game--and believe me they will.

Gameplay is fast and furious-as it should be in a hockey game. If anything the gameplay is almost too fast.

Taking advantage of the space on that the DVD allows you to have, there’s a lot of information that can be viewed in terms of the making of the game. You’ll see some famous stars such as Oliver Platt and David Arquette talk about lending their voices to the game.

Everything in the game just reeks of shine and polish and though it's flawed in some areas, it's still one of the best games to come down the line this year.

NHL 2002 gives players amazing control, and pin point accuracy, while still leaving enough of a learning curve to make you come back for more than just a few games.

If you're looking for a no-frills, number-crunching, "old school" 4X strategy game, pull up a chair and relax. You're gonna be here for a while.

It may not be the best Trek game out there, but it really manages to capture the feel of commanding one of the most powerful vessels in the Federation, and it’s a blast to boot.

The most stunning aspect of the game, though, is the graphics and, especially, the animation. Everything is in meticulous 3D, from the map screen to the battles. In battles, though, is where the animation really shines.

The graphics in Trainz are top notch. I was blown away with the detail of the engines and carriages, not to mention the environment. Everything looks gorgeous.

If you enjoyed the tourism aspect of the original game then this add-on is a definite must for you.

A fun game that has no serious flaws except for horrendously long loading times.

This game is so simple and easy to play that you’ll have a great golf course up and running in no time. In fact, crafting holes is the easy part; making them challenging and entertaining is where the difficulty arises.

Escape from Monkey Island is a wonderful romp filled with memorable characters, excellent voice acting, and clever puzzles.

The one category where this game stands above others is the physics and controls.

The largest problem with this game seems to be the difficulty. The end-game bosses are seriously some of the hardest I’ve ever seen in a fighting game.

The gameplay of WTS however, is superb. Never have I felt so close to real soccer action than with this game. It’s that good.

A great shooter, the best that has come my way in over a year.

I can personally verify that multiplayer is much much smoother than before – not that it was awful before, but I haven’t been getting as many disconnects as I did before.

Pirates is an excellent game in one regard; it allows you a great deal of freedom to explore and to complete the game at your own pace.

Control is very easy and intuitive. For the coolest dunk you’ll have to press no less than five buttons at one time plus the d-pad, but it is definitely worth it.

It's got great track variety, quality graphics, and a bevy of options.

What’s great about this game is that it includes vehicles to suit the tastes of every type of motorhead out there.

When I do click play, I find it very hard to stop.

As fun as the game is, it is devilishly hard.

Driving the Interceptor is really easy so even those who aren’t into driving games can pick this up easily. The graphics are nicely done and it runs pretty smoothly.

The expansion really adds nothing more to the game's mechanics, which isn't a bad thing. It's sole purpose is to conclude the series.

The single player campaign alone makes it worth buying, and the powerful fanbase that already existed before the game was even released is a definite plus.

Even the early missions start out fairly difficult, and it only gets harder from there. These campaigns are not written for the novice player.

The sense of speed and immersion is compelling, squealing around tight corners is a joy due to perfect control and the races themselves will keep players' knuckles white as they try to evade every day traffic while still outracing the cops and smashing their components into buildings.

AoW2 has the “just one more turn” quality common to many great turn-based games like "Civilization" and "Master of Orion."

It has some great fighting elements as well as some of the elements from the Thief series and finally some adventure elements. Add that to a pretty good graphics engine and sound, and you have yourself a darn good game.

An enjoyable game, to be sure, but it could have been so much more.

Not only does AvP2 send chills down the spine, it also fuels the adrenaline with hyperkinetic action.

In terms of how it compares to other music games I play, Frequency is a nice little title that some people will find quite addicting. Like most music games, though, gameplay can be quite tedious.

You won't hear complaints about the graphics, which are absolutely gorgeous. For one, there is a certain style to the artwork; it's not quite anime, but it does have a hint of it.

Not only is this game a veritable orgy of enjoyment, it also manages to look and feel just as appealing.

The Diablo games don't have the weird imbalances and ambiguities Dungeon Siege does, where you're stuck trying to figure out if you want to keep an item or not. In Diablo, it was always easy to tell which items were the best and its class system, if more restrictive, is also more focused.
