With Max Payne 3, Rockstar Games proves that the studio masters action games in the most brilliant way, despite Max Payne 3 not being an open-world title. If there were no doubts about narration, the gameplay system also remains very atttractive thanks to the perfect introduction of the bullet time and the Shootdodge abilities, two strong aspects players are already familiar with. Rockstar Games offers a great experience, full of details, and depicts an amazing trip through Brazil and its favelas. A masterpiece in which Rockstar Games excels at introducing a tortured character whose adventures will surely give you the chills.- Posted May 15, 2012

Funnier and brilliant, Borderlands 2 is twice as good as the first episode was, something which isn't always the case for sequels. But Gearbox Software manages to improve their IP in many ways, offering one of these titles you could not possibly forget to buy in 2012, and proposing new features that will allow players to blow off some steam for hours.- Posted Oct 1, 2012

FIFA 13 is maybe close to FIFA 12. However, for EA Vancouver, the first one was an evolution when the second one was a revolution. The Canadian studios manage to improve the already good bases of the IP, especially the ones on which players were looking for improvements. In another way, FIFA 13 is a game you'll need to play for hours to discover all the details that make it the greatest football simulation game to date.- Posted Oct 1, 2012

If you can buy one game in 2012, it should be Dishonored. From production to its ingenious gameplay, Arkhane Studios' title is outstanding, with its multiple references to many games such as Deus Ex, Thief, Bioshock or Half Life 2. It's simple, Dishonored is a 2-in-1 game you can finish either with violence and lots of action sequences, or with discretion, applying stealth strategies to kill your enemies without being seen.- Posted Oct 8, 2012

Like it's ancestor, Bioshock Infinite should be in the hall of fame of videogames. Not for technical reasons, as the game is not quite top notch on that front, but it is magnificent for artistic reasons. Columbia is absolutely spectacular, as the universe does not limit itself to scripted areas, and the storyline has a real point beyond entertainment. In sharp contrast to the mass of videogames that are forgotten ten minutes after the gamers are done playing with them, Bioshock Infinite will forever impact the memories of those who have the chance to experience it. FPS fans will like the different elements of the game such as fails, airtrains and Elizabeth that allow an increase in the fight's rhythm, a vast improvement over the first Bioshock. Whether you're an intellectual or a trigger happy maniac, you will definitely find a reason to enjoy this fabulous game. Long live Bioshock Infinite.- Posted Mar 25, 2013

Beautiful, nervous and featuring an entertaining campaign as well as a great multiplayer experience, Diablo 3 proves that Blizzard remains loyal to the series offering one of the best hack'n'slash titles on the market. Football Manager 2013 is the best Football Manager released at this stage in many ways. New modes arrive just in time to renew interest in the game (with the Challenges) and give an easier access to it for the newcomers (with the Classic mode). GUI improved a lot, every information you need is at your disposal. Forget about playing with the 3D engine by the way : it hasn't evolved since last year, unlike training sessions, which are simpler and more logical to organize. The Wii U version of Darksiders 2 won't revolutionize the way players were usually playing. Having the entire HUD on the GamePad is pleasant but the navigation is not as good as it should be. Spec Ops The Line is a good TPS whose lack of originality regarding its gameplay mechanics can be easliy criticized. Like snow or Christmas decorations, Call of Duty shows itself by the end of the year. Like every year since Modern Warfare. This time, it's the turn of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, developed by Treyarch. Unlike its predecessor, the story sets in two distinct eras, the 80's and the year 2025. Two viewpoints which allow the game to offer many side roads in the story, and 8 different endings. This is a first for such a mainstream series. Of course the game's core remains the same on the basics: cinematic action, epic scenes and a percussive score. Even if Black Ops 2 reuses old recipes, it does it really well and remains a great experience.- Posted Nov 13, 2012

Ninja Theory has done a pretty wonderful job on the game's background to give a fresh start to this Capcom saga, thanks to a great work from their artists. We expected a lot from Dead Space 3 and were not disappointed. The game keeps all its promises, with true moments of tension proving that Visceral Games hasn’t betrayed the Dead Space series. Horror is there, and we have never seen such violent Necromorphs. This perfect balance between action sequences and anguish is efficient, avoiding Dead Space 3 making the same mistake as Resident Evil 6. But we must be honest with the fans: if the next Dead Space has more action scenes, there will be reason to fear the worst. Since it’s not a perfect game, it’s important to highlight the poor cover system and the lack of boss fights. Although the deep weapon crafting system is likely to annoy the purists, Dead Space 3 remains a great experience you have to live.- Posted Feb 11, 2013

God of War Ascension is a controversial subject. If fans will be disappointed because the game is less spectacular than God of War 3, newcomers will be seduced by Kratos who has always been close to perfection. SCEA Santa Monica Studio masters the main aspects of the game: graphics are beautiful, the final boss fight is huge and the voice acting is efficient. In fact, the problem is all people remember God of War 3 and were expecting the same show. This is not the case and we think that the game should be seen as a transitional period which allows a second team to develop God of War 4. We hope that.- Posted Mar 12, 2013

If Nintendo refuses to start developing new licenses, it's only because the firm already has enough talent to efficiently renew it's existing ones with a success others have yet to match. Luigi's Mansion 2 is a perfect example of this pattern as Luigi's new adventures in haunted houses hack your mind like drugs once the player understands the finer points of the game. The gameplay has a great finesse which is very enjoyable and the directing along the general atmosphere are almost a masterpiece. Of course the lack of a second controlling stick is not the best feature of the game and we would have liked a multiplayer mode with more rhythm. Far from the appeal of a Fallout 3, Metro Last Light bets on a really dark and nerve racking post-apocalyptic ambiance. This undoubtedly is the strong point of the game, but not the only one. The latest 4A's Games subtly mixes gunfights, stealth approach and storyline that confirm the literary roots of the script. Offering good immersion despite some minor problems with the AI, the game leads the player in a very intricate world. A world where the beauty of the graphics allows to forget about the drawbacks mentioned, especially on PC with potent graphics cards where the game can be put through its paces. This return is a success! Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time keeps doing what the former games of the series did very well : very colourful graphics, great direction and skilled platform levels. New characters, introduces by Sanzaru Games, are more a good idea than a bad one. And the lack of challenge is quickly forgotten because of a deep content and an hilarious adventure.- Posted Mar 21, 2013

A great success. It has an original script and, surprisingly, we can be easily dragged into this story. With simple and intuitive gameplay, it’s easy to handle it. Then we can enjoy graphics which benefit from careful modeling. Injustice will please Comics fans but not only this group. With its immersive universe, even those uninitiated to fighting games will find it easy to take their places in the huge universe of superheroes.- Posted Apr 16, 2013

Bred from a high profile e-sports culture, ShootMania Storm wins the challenge of bonding Hardcore and casual gamers together by submitting various mods. If we can regret the poorly made ManiaPlanet the community experience and the freedom allowed by the dev to the gamers in terms of customization and gameplay should succeed. With a retail price of 20€ and the availability of Royal and Elite mod as freewares, this game has a strong financial appeal, knowing that e-sports already welcomed ShootMania in the family, we guess there will be active servers for years to come...Let's hope it will be as successful as the Trackmania franchise.- Posted Apr 23, 2013

Epic from start to finish, weird and attractive at the same time, Soul Sacrifice is an original game that takes its time to reveal it's potential. The universe is carefully crafted and the ambiance mixing uneasiness and sadness make a vault that fits the PS Vita tailored gameplay. A direct competitor of Monster Hunter, Soul Sacrifice does not match the list of monsters but sheds light on the obsolete game mechanics of Capcom's game while renewing the concept. Too bad that this game still suffers from it's youth as some mistakes are present, but we hope those will disappear in an upcoming sequel.- Posted May 3, 2013

StarHawk is a pleasant surprise. Predicted as a very multiplayer TPS, it reveals a nice campaign, which is a true advantage in this kind of game. Multi is a little bit disapointing : game modes are far too classic and you'll have to fight with your friends to establish a real strategy. That's too bad, with its nice graphics and its versatile gameplay, StarHawk could have been one of the very best.- Posted May 15, 2012

As the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, Mortal Kombat PS Vita is one of the funniest versus fighting games of Sony's console. If you like bloody battles and fatalities, this reboot of the franchise will keep you awake for a long time. TERA is not a game that will revolutionize the MMORPG world, offering repetitive and boring quests. However, its battle system, taking a page out of action titles, happens to propose a more dynamic and interesting gameplay that MMORPG commonly offer on the market. For the first time, the ability to aim and move play a part in TERA, and the beauty of its graphics and its charming universe can be considered as strong points, which is not alwalys the case in titles like this.- Posted May 15, 2012

Don't be fooled. Unveiled as a retro game, FEZ is a breath of fresh air. Inspired by a lot of 80s games, FEZ is both a platform and puzzle-game that will enchant the players, thanks to its beautiful design, its ingenious riddles, and the perfect use of 2D and 3D graphics. Despite some frame-rate issues, surely FEZ is a game that you need to add to your digital game library.- Posted May 16, 2012

Brand-new Capcom's IP, Dragon's Dogma is a kind of super Monster Hunter in a Medieval-Fantasy world. Grounded on titanic fights, this game works very well on this specific point. With its open world and its large landscapes, Dragon's Dogma seems to be a great adventure. It's true in a way, but some problems prevent it to be a brilliant game. Especially technicals flaws and the poor pawn's AI.- Posted May 28, 2012

Resistance Burning Skies is the first FPS on PS Vita to use the game controls of an handheld device successfully, despite not being as good as Uncharted Golden Abyss or WipEout 2048 in terms of quality. The IP would have been better if the developers proposed more innovations as regards the level design, but the principal elements of the Resistance franchise have not been forgotten, espcially its multiplayer mode. For its first entry on PS Vita, Resistance Burning Skies copes pretty well.- Posted Jun 15, 2012

Unfinished and yet terribly ambitious, The Secret World stirs up a hornets' nest among the MMORPG titles. Its fantastic and modern universe does not bother introducing the usual elves and dwarves, and offers a great graphic experience. Moreover, by introducing investigation side quests we could find in the game In Memoriam, the title moves us away from the traditional fight sequences against monsters.- Posted Jul 9, 2012

Another year, another Pro Cycling Manager, but still no big improvement in this 2012 edition. Cyanide may have been focused ont other projects and, as a result, the game isn't very different from last year's game. Graphics are slightly better and the Season Planner is finally a pretty good tool. But at the end of the day, players who already have PCM 2011 will need to think hard before splashing some cash in this new edition.- Posted Jul 9, 2012

One Piece: Pirate Warriors isn't the game of the year but it's probably the best game in the series. Some can say it's just a Dynasty Warriors-like, with all the problems that come with it, but it's a good one. The use of Quick Time Events is clever and brings some kind of renewal to the gameplay. There are not many new contents and features in Dance Central 3 that make it one of a kind. And yet, with a new Story mode, the developers offer a good opportunity for players that are eager to learn their moves alone without the need of inviting all of his neighbors. It's hard to give any notation to The Unfinished Swan, as it's another arty conceptual game from Sony Studios, with terrific ideas of gameplay. Unfortunately, those good features aren't going any further and you will probably finish it in about three hours. If there are no big changes in the way Traveller's Tales develop their games, LEGO The Lord of the Rings remains a great adventure game that offers enough innovations such as its new cinematographic approach or a new open-world, the Middle-Earth, that proposes lots of side quests, to entertain players for hours. The fun in the writing and the great balance of the puzzles will surely make you feel nostalgic if you're 30 or more. Far Cry 3: blood Dragon is a huge trip in the 80's that the developers have allowed themselves by modding the awesome Far Cry 3. Only sold online through Steam, the PSN and Xbox Live for 15 miserable euros, this game is a true acid trip that finally puts the humor as the central point in the storyline hence a game which is incredibly fun to play. Combining the strength of Far Cry 3 in its original form with a creative surge from a game designers with balls, Blood Dragon delivers what we were expect if since long ago: some pure unadulterated fun and that was clearly the objective of Sgt Rex Power Colt whose presence is enough to make this game one of the best investments of the year.- Posted May 10, 2013

Players will have trouble considering Prototype 2 as a full-fledged sequel. The lack of surprises regarding the gameplay compared to the previous title, and a story that is not worth telling despite some amazing live action cutscenes, could curb the enthusiasm of the few players looking for new game mecanics.
