Fey's back to her day job tonight and 30 Rock is as funny as ever, as cynical as we hoped, and as fresh as if it were a freshman show.
  2. The series is a clever update, not to say rip-off, of “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” set behind the scenes at an NBC comedy show rather than in a television newsroom, and it is very funny.
  3. The show's droll and mostly apolitical humor fits the exaggerated characters well, it's still got a good fast rhythm, and the five major players work well as an ensemble.

Despite the Palin raves, Fey saves her best for this witty show.

Many people started to complain that the onslaught of guest stars was a deterrent to the show's third season, but I loved all of it. Oprah and Jennifer Aniston were both hilarious, and even though Tina Fey was busy on Saturday Night Live with her killer Sarah Palin impersonation, it didn't affect the the creative perfection on display here. Like all of the best comedies that are given time before cancellation, 30 Rock has developed its characters into more rounded and real people which provides many more opportunities for comedy. Kudos to NBC for allowing 30 Rock the time to develop the characters in 3 dimensional people with lives and stories that can be used for humor. The cast is now developing into into a place that shows liek Mary Tyler Moore and Dick Van Dyke reached where the work place is funny because of the great charcters that work there. Not the greatest comedy in history, but the best one on the air right now and getting better each episode. Expand

Well after being told that this is the next Arrested Development I decided to give this show a chance. Unfortunately, the critics seem to be watching something else. I watched the first half of one episode and at some point in time I had a revelation. I realized that it was a comedy and not one joke had been made. Maybe I didn't give it time. I am betting the show is politically charged and is overrated. The only thing this show has in common with AD is the ratings. The difference is AD had low ratings due to its different pacing and terrible marketing. 30 Rock meanwhile has low ratings because its boring. I am trying to find the next Arrested Development, I have not found it yet and I dont think I ever will, but I know this is not it. Collapse
