  • Summary: Kevin Wade & Darren Starr's latest series stars Lucy Liu, Frances O'Connor, Miranda Otto and Bonnie Somerville as powerful business women who remain best of friends.

It affects a frisky aura of gamesmanship with its tight-knit friends (played by Lucy Liu, Frances O'Connor, Miranda Otto and Bonnie Somerville) as they send their distress-text signals to each other, meet up, hash out their obstacles--cheaters, competitors, cads and the clock--and plan their counterattacks.
  2. It seems Darren Star has moved away from the fantasy of the upwardly mobile professional woman who seizes life's pleasures for everything they're worth; his ABC dramedy proves, time and again, that every treasure we hunt for comes with a higher price not listed on any receipt.
  3. Mostly the series functions as an entertaining if pale sequel to its HBO prototype.

Cashmere Mafia, on the other hand, proceeds as if it were written by someone very far away imagining a cold, hard city in which a woman can get a schmaltzy marriage proposal on a Monday and then be dumped five days later because she beats her fiancé out for a job.
  5. 30
The characters of Cashmere are utterly lacking in that quality, and it's not long before their self-absorption and selfishness become unbearable.
  6. It's pretty easy to qualify as worst series of the year when the year is less than a week old, but ABC's yucky Cashmere Mafia sets the limbo bar so low, only the slackest skeevy show could slither under it before the ball next drops Dec. 31.

This show is fun, exciting, and sexy. The women are high class business profesionals who beat out their husbands and other men to be the best and look the best. The show was the talk in class at school, proving it does apeal to a younger group of women. I hope this show returns! Expand

this is like sex and the city as it could have been, with intelligent, compassionate, modern women with glamorous lives but grounded views. The actresses are superb and share screen time graciously with each other and with lesser characters. Witty script and fresh perspective. Thank God! Expand

I really like this show. Maybe it's because I missed the SATC rage. This show is fun. Sure, maybe a little brainless at times, but really I'm not looking for a show like this to be life changing. Just fun to watch while I'm in my pj's. Expand

The one show that my seventeen year old daughter and I Tivo and watch together. Blame or shame on those who think it's a show about real women! We watch for the clothes, the handbags, the shoes, packaged theatricality as escape. I ask only that you add mystery and grace -- that cannot be bought with cash, true glamor. Expand

Good-looking women playing four loser-women who quite adequately demonstrate all the widely bought fallacies of the feminist movement of the last fifty years. The lesbian one actually seems so far to have the best grip on life, even though she's getting involved with some semi-bizarre people. However, the other three women are just pretty clueless about what being a woman is all about. Talk about advanced cases of closeted penis-envy!! It is no mystery why they are having trouble with men; no self-respecting man would use those characters for anything other than a romp in the sack! One just wonders if the writers are consciously or unconsciously writing such loser characters. If they were real life, one would REALLY feel bad for their kids. Expand

    Totally confusing and eminently turn-offable.
