It's nice to see this comically gruesome show return (series No 23: it's obviously doing something right), even though this was one of its more rambling plots and involved more prosaic murder methods, eg death by rubber dinghy. Disappointing. I was hoping for something more sadistic.
Yes, Midsomer Murders plods its way through soused peat-bogs of plot at an infuriatingly slow pace, and, yes, two hours of it does feel a little bit like listening to Alexa reading you Proust.
