While this fourth season fortunately retains the series crude sense of humour and ability to tell the sorts of stories only Misfits can tell it lacks the intrigue created by those previously ongoing storylines, particularly the one regarding the mystery of the ‘Future Simon’. If you are a fan of seasons one to three your likely still enjoy this fourth season but having lost much of its original cast Misfits is a show trying to find its feet again. Collapse

This is quite apparent in the first half of the series which feels rushed and lacking in cohesion - even the brilliant and oft-improvised Joseph Gilgun can't seem to rescue the show, seeming nervy and unsure in his performance. However things get better from the halfway point, the initially annoying Finn developing an endearing relationship with Gilgun's Rudy, and the late addition of O'Keeffe's Abby adding a new dimension to the gang. It was disappointing to watch the episodes at the time, and easy to miss the old characters, but watching a few years later, taken as a whole, this series was a good save by the writers, actors and crew in challenging circumstances. I thoroughly enjoyed the first three seasons but with the majority of the original characters now gone and the newbies being nowhere near as good I found it hard to really get into this season. Some episodes are better than others, but overall it's a turn in the wrong direction for the show and I can't say I'm looking forward to Season 5 if it ever comes out. Expand
