There's a bit too much singing--but Brooks is charming as he run through tales of his hard-luck upbringing, showbiz-triumphs and marriage to Anne Bancroft. [30 Jan-6 Feb 2015, p.121]

When the focus is on the magic, Wars can be spellbinding--when it's not, irksome questions arise.

Though Helena Bonham Carter struggles to get Taylor's voice just right--it sounds more like a Madeline Kahn impression--she's a gas as aging party girl Liz. Dominic West's Dick, meanwhile, is a model of worldweary dignity. If only they, and their film, were quite as gloriously messy as Liz and Dick themselves. [18 Oct 2013, p.60]

It may not convert nonbelievers, but current and former fans will have plenty to smize about. [22/29 Aug 2014, p.102]

Scenes of Mei trying to reconnect with her past has a few clever touches.... But it also has enough clunky dialogue, poor production values, and sluggish pacing to alienate viewers, too. [5 Dec 2014, p.77]

If you enjoy watching women snipe at each other no matter the context, then it likely won't matter; if you were hoping for something less conventional, it's tough not to be disappointed. [30 May/6 Jun 2014, p.113]

The issue here, in as much as there’s an issue here, isn’t that the jokes aren’t funny--it’s that they’re kinda lazy, especially coming from a group this capable.... The series is amusing enough to qualify as a good summer diversion--if not exactly must-see TV.

If you can get past the canned lines and sub-sitcom story lines, the Chrisley crew can be fun.

A by-the-book series that is way less fun than something executive-produced by Sofia Vergara has any right to be. [17 Jan 2014, p.62]

There could be a decent show trapped within Selfie.... Too bad the show's cruel sense of humor and reliance on instantly dated references may very well drive away viewers before they can see what Selfie and Eliza become. [3 Oct 2014, p.66]

Labyrinth is neither absorbing enough to be good-good nor ridiculous enough to be bad-good.

There are occasional bursts of inspiration but the whole is far from divine. [3 Apr 2015, p.58]

Too bad its take on issues like privacy and feminism is kiddiepool shallow.
