  • Summary: Pokedex 3D is a free application that lets you collect data on more than 150 Pokemon from the Pokemon Black Version and Pokemon White Version video games! This exciting new application lets you see each Pokemon in 3D. You can rotate the Pokemon image a full 360 degrees, zoom in and out, and view it from any angle. You can even hear each Pokemons distinct cry and watch it in motion! The detailed Pokedex also allows you to search, sort, and filter your Pokemon data in a variety of ways, making it the essential guide for every Pokemon fan!

Complete your Pokedex by receiving Pokemon data from friends, using the SpotPass feature (wireless broadband Internet access required), or scanning special Augmented Reality (AR) Markers. Once you have collected data for a Pokemon, the AR Viewer allows you to view that Pokemon image as if it were right in front of you in the real worldand you can take photos of it to share with your friends!

The free Pokedex 3D is available exclusively through Nintendo eShop on the Nintendo 3DS system.

Pokédex 3D is a simple evolution of the Pokémon canon, perfect for every collector and player of the series. Its applications stream far beyond the series and have wider implications for the future of the console. Conceptually the Pokédex is an old idea but socially it could turn out to be exactly what the 3DS was designed for.

If you like Pokémon and you have a 3DS, chances are you've downloaded this already as it's free, but if not then now's the time to grab it.

For what it's worth though, this is a handy little tool with more information than you could possibly ask, and the fact that it's free just sweetens the deal. If you don't yet have it and you're a Pokémon fan, get it. Now.

Pokedex 3D is not so much of a game as it is a guide/resource application for the Pokemon Black and White games for the Nintendo DS. You can gather information by daily downloads for by swapping data with others with this software installed on their 3DS and can do some fun and interesting AR and photo related things with the character models as well. Sure it is kinda bland, and its more of a encyclopedia software than a game but considering its completely free and absolutely optional to download, that is perfectly fine. If you are a fan of Pokemon, download it, if you are not a fan of Pokemon, don't download it, you aren't missing much one way or the other, simple as that. Expand

People reviewing this are simply getting it wrong: The Pokedex 3D isn't a game. Like its title says, it's a darn Pokedex. And a good one, at that. It offers great 3D models, a way to display them through augmented reality, a trade system with friends and some extra thingies.
The 3D models are anti-aliased, showing off the 3DS' power.

The only thing I don't like is the fact that the pokedex only contains the pokemon from the new Gen 5 games. I think you can get pikachu as easter egg somehow though.

This isn't a game, as evidenced by the fact that it's in the "applications" section of the 3DS eShop. So the question is whether or not it's a *good* app. My answer is that yes, it is. The information is very comprehensive, including base stats, Pokedex entries from both the Black and White versions of the game, evolutions, and a complete list of which moves are learned at which levels, and which can be taught with TMs. It's definitely cool to have this information (although it's all available on Bulbapedia regardless...)

The 3D Pokemon look very good. The AR functionality (allowing you to put one of your Pokemon in the real world and take a picture) is fairly pointless in my opinion.

It's always fun to open up your 3DS and see which new Pokemon have been downloaded for you via SpotPass. However, not all of the Pokemon can be obtained this way, meaning you have to exchange information with another 3DS owner to catch them all. If you don't know anyone else with a 3DS, this is really annoying.

Overall, though, it's informative, good-looking, and free. Definitely worth checking out if you like Pokemon at all.

I would not call Pokedex 3D a true "game" but more an interactive database. You can get it off the new Nintendo eShop. It's free, so I would recommend it to anyone who may enjoy it. It's really nothing more than a fancy Pokedex, but you can't complain because it's free. Expand

Can this seriously be considered a game? It's just an elaborate Pokemon viewer. The only game aspect is sharing the Pokemon you have with other people. I can only see Pokemaniacs enjoying the in depth stat tracking. At least it's free. Expand
