  • Summary: (Also known as Pokemon Link: Battle!) Pokémon Battle Trozei is a game where players battle Pokémon to capture them through fast-paced puzzles. When you catch a wild Pokémon, it is called a Trozei. Your goal in this game is to Trozei every last Pokémon. You must make matches of the same Pokémon from among all the many Pokémon that fill your Trozei Box—the large field of Pokémon on the lower screen. The Pokémon that appears on the top screen is the wild Pokémon that you are facing in battle. Line up three Pokémon in a row to clear your Pokémon from the box, and to attack and reduce the HP of the wild Pokémon that you face. When its HP reaches zero, you will be able to Trozei that Pokémon! As time passes, the wild Pokémon will also lash out to attack you in return. When you’re attacked by a wild Pokémon, the Trozei Box will lose some of its energy. The wild Pokémon you face may even try to get in your way. If the Trozei Box’s energy reaches zero, it’s game over. [] Expand

Despite its tedious shortcomings, Pokémon Battle Trozei is still a fantastic game that’s worth playing. This fast-paced combo frenzy is extremely addicting to pick up and play, making it an excellent addition to the existing Pokémon spin-offs.

Not a very good argument for why Nintendo shouldn’t make smartphone games, but an imaginative and enjoyable take on Candy Crush Saga and its ilk.

Pokémon Link Battle is not the greatest pokémon game ever, but it works as a good spin-off from the original franchise, delivering an entertainment experience for just a few bucks. At least the game deserves an opportunity.

Pokémon Link: Battle! is a fun addition to the enormous Pokémon series, this time to its puzzle front. While it can get repetitive quickly, this game is mostly oriented towards short gaming bouts, as well as to local multiplayer sessions. The lack of an online component is a mystery, though. Fans of the Pokémon series and of puzzle games alike will find good reasons to put their hands on this.

Pokémon Battle Trozei is a fun take on the Match-3 genre that rewards quick reflexes, strategic thinking, and Pokémon knowledge.
  6. Mar 13, 2014
A strong match-three game for your 3DS, Pokemon Link: Battle! may look pretty standard, but its faster pace and Pokemon-themed gameplay set it aside from the crowd.

At roughly ten times the price that these kinds of games usually ask over in the mobile world, it's difficult to see where the developers have justified the premium price, because what we have with Pokémon Link: Battle is a nice, but ultimately unremarkable match-3 game with much less content (yes, even with 700 critters to catch) than its immediate rivals.

The game is quite fun for those who enjoy games such as Candy Crush and Bejeweled. Pokemon Battle Trozei is fun and fast paced and provides a challenge for any who wish to earn the best ranking on each level. The controls are very easy to master, yet the game still provides a tough challenge. Never have I felt more encouraged to finally catch 'em all! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This Is My Update Of My Original One Which Was When It Was New, And I Was Really Halfway Through The Game. The game Does Still Have The Charm It Had Before, Though This Game Is Pulling A Final Fantasy Story Wise, Because It's Not Related To The Original DS Game. It's Story Is Really: Your A Random Guy, And Since Your To Lazy To Buy PokeBalls, You Use A Fancy Match 3 Tablet To Catch Pokemon. I Feel This Game Is The Reason Why Gamefreak Reintroduced The "Gotta Catch Em All" Catchphrase, As That Is Really Your Goal. It Isn't Required, But It Does Give You Special Bonus Levels (That Are 20X More Difficult Than The Levels In That area. There Are 13 Areas: 10 Story Levels, 1 Optional Level, And 2 After Game Levels. The Chibi Appearances Are Still Cute, But I Do Find It Weird That In The Credits The Show All The Secret Pokemon From Each World. WHICH MAKES ME INFURIATED THAT I NEED TO GET ALL THE POKEMON IN WORLD 5 JUST TO GET MY FAVORITE POMEMON. Ugh, But It Is Still A Great Game, But The Streetpass Was A Waste, Just Giving You The Persons Stats. Still A Great Game. Expand

Repetitive but addicting. It's one of those game where you'd say "Just one more level" as this tetris-attack bejeweled-like game created a spin off for these type of puzzles. It's frantic and fast pace as you try to reach those combos. I'm glad the tutorial are minimum as the player get to experiment and find new tactics to capture the Pokemon. Should I save my Charmander to use on a Bulbasuar or should I use a Pikachu that's easily can create a lot of combo? Should I ultimately chain combo's to heal my health with Chansey, or use my Blastoise to deal great damage? There are so much to think when playing the game; much more tacticful and thinking than Zumba Revenge! games. It's easy to learn and play yet hard to master. Expand

This is a typical bejeweled feel game but with Pokémon. Its NOT a bad game as it plays VERY well. Making chains best feature is that with the right combo, the game becomes a match 2 game for a limited time and its easy to make that combo over and over...... Expand

An addictive, unique, fun, frantic, enjoyable and accessible fusion of Pokémon and Bejeweled/Tetris style gameplay. Not the greatest game you will ever play but a good title for your 3DS collection. Expand

One would think that with Pokémon Battle Trozei (or "Link Battle" in Europe) standing in the tradition of Pokémon Puzzle League and Pokémon Puzzle Challenge and it now incorporating battles and catching mechanics, it would surely be a must-have. Turns out it's far from that.

It plays like a mix of Puzzle League and Bejeweled. It more or less chooses the most lenient rules from both games which makes for a very loose experience. There is a small difficulty spike, but overall the game is insultingly easy. The gameplay gets outright random when it comes to if a combo connects, especially when you get into the Match-2 combo mode. It has an extremely limited amount of modes (namely two: Singleplayer and Multiplayer) and the gameplay within those modes is stale, it doesn't really change no matter how far you progress.
The presentation is also surprisingly lacking. The Pokémon for example don't give off their trademark voices.

Can't really recommend this to anyone. Even (or maybe especially) Pokémon fans will be disappointed.
