Konami may have created the most robust digital version of its popular CCG yet, but it has married it to a distinct lack of gameplay modes and player interaction. [Sept 2014, p.123]
Lacking the multiplayer makes it difficult to really get into Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal World Duel Carnival. What's in the game is perfectly functional and the core game is one of the most popular and lasting CCGs for a very good reason, it's difficult to really get into a game such as this that lacks the social experience.
This game is somewhat different from the other Yu Gi Oh games they made before. I give it a 10 because it underrated, and here is a through explanation of what this game did well and not so well.
Pros: Much better UI, lot of new cards, AI response time is much faster, lot of different characters with decks you play therefore lot of strategies you can use, and learn a lot about the card game in general.
Neutral: 1. It had no 3D graphics, I think it a good thing since they always made poor 3D models in the game, might as well get rid of it all together.
2. You are given a lot of cards when you start the game, that kind of get rid of the fun of collecting cards but it also remove the annoyance of buying hundreds of packs to get that 1 card.
Bad: 1. It had less story line than other Yu Gi Oh games. The previous didn't have a big focus on story but this one had even less.
2. As the Yu Gi Oh franchise is making more lighthearted games and anime, story is less serious than said compare to the past Yu Gi Oh generations. Clearly aimed only on little kids, but funny thing is the game can have a lot of depth.
3. Little way to customize you own character or have any mini games or game play. Game is still heavily about dueling, there isn't much else to the game. Take for example, Pokemon had implanted a lot character customization and mini games for the Pokemon, but this game had no such side activities.
Conclusion: The game aspect on dueling, and the way it present the dueling mechanic had improved a lot. However, the story element is more lackluster and less focused on compare to previous tittles. Also those mini games that make games whole are clearly missing.
Suggestions: Use some time to make a better story line, add mini games, and continue the good work on the dueling interface.
For 20 dollars this game is still worth it if you are a Yu Gi Oh fan or a newcomer. This game is clearly underrated and should deserve better. I said it deserve a 8.3 or 8.5 and definitely not 5.6 for the fact it half the price of a regular 3DS game and just had a better dueling feel to it compare to the old ones.
Why this game is underrated? I like this game and I played it about 28 hour. In my opinion, this game deserve 7.9 what I would like to say is play this game and don't listen to those people who say this game **** they are just haters who try to stop us from playing this game. So I recommend you to buy this game in 25 sept. As for me I own Japanese version so I am going to buy us version as well, because this game is amazing.
In many ways World Duel Carnival is a Yu-Gi-Oh! expert's dream title; very little locked away, an incredibly in-depth game system with a huge number of cards to try out, and the means to customise a main character's deck to their own liking.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal: World Duel Carnival is kind of a mess. Besides being quite noob friendly, it fails on almost any other level with a lazy story mode, no multiplayer features and an outdated pool of cards. Fans be aware: even you may not like this.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal World Duel Carnival suffers of a bad game design. The lack of a multiplayer mode in a duel-based game and the slim story Mode (compared to the Japanese one) are the bigger problems of this poor Nintendo 3DS title.
If you’re considering this game, stay away. There are better Yu-Gi-Oh! games out there, and there are better digital card games out there. The only reason I can think of to buy this - and there’s no hyperbole here - is for the three exclusive physical cards it comes with.
This game is fun. The story mode is pretty solid with the game giving you the chance to play as certain characters of the anime which is based on and that adds a certain complexity degree. There's missing content in the non japanese versions which is a downside but overall you can get a lot of hours of content from the main story. I recommend playing this game in the highest difficulty or it will be a bit too easy when you get the hang of it.
Though this is not the worst Yu-Gi-Oh game I have played it is by far not the best. After playing for awhile I found myself wishing I had spent my $20 on something else. This game might have been great as a $10 game but as it stands I would spend my money on something else. with the lack of anything to do other than play against the A.I or play through various character's story this game just isn't worth the money. The only reason I give it the score I gave is because I truly love the story for your character and the fact that you start with all the cards. Those two things alone are why it didn't get a 3 or 4 out of 10.
You may be a Yu-Gi-Oh! fan and we get it, you may waiting for it , right ? The point is does it worth the waiting ? and the fact is this isn't a good game at all
The game does not support multiplayer gameplay, that's a BIG downside for a TRADING card game! Lacks 3D support as well, nothing like the World Championship games from the Nintendo DS era where you could see your monster battling each other in the upper screen. If yo want a classic Yu-Gi-Oh! experience avoid this game at all cost!
