The odd-ball of the AoE family is back and is better than ever. This remake won’t change the minds of people who didn’t like it upon its original release, but it does celebrate an RTS that dared to try something new.
This is a generous re-proposal, in which functional filings intersect in the management of playful mechanics and an important aesthetic modernization.

This is one of the deepest RTS games I have played. There is always something new you are learning. From a casual perspective it is rewarding as well as you will always earn XP even when playing against the computer. The unit responsiveness is a bit clunky and the counters are really hard but I still think it is a visually beautiful game with rewarding mechanics and so so much replayabliity. It deviates so much from the other AOE but that is the reason I love it.

Good graphics but unnecessary game !
AoE3 already looks good & there was no need of this game . AoE2 DE is acceptable as AoE2 was a very old game .
They could've just postponed this DE game 2 -3 years later and added new things that would make players excited !
I think they released this so that they can release AoE 4

Age of Empires III Definitive Edition is a lovingly reworked classic of the RTS genre that modernises in all the right ways. It also serves as the perfect way to prepare for next year's long awaited Age of Empires IV.
This particular journey simply didn’t hold the appeal for me that it once might have. If you’ve got fond memories of this series, then the Definitive Edition of AoE 3 will hook you good. This new model looks and sounds great, there’s a ton of new battlefields to conquer, and new ways to do that conquering.

Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is the remaster the game deserves. The overhaul of aesthetics in gameplay make it look better than it ever has. This Definitive Edition comes supersized with all the previous game’s content plus new missions, campaigns and factions. The new additions are fully developed and integrate masterfully with the base game. While the game is beautiful to look at and still holds true to the formula that makes AoE such a great franchise, it’s also riddled with frustrating glitches and inconsistencies. While I’m sure a post-launch patch will be released to add fixes, players will have to deal with these inconveniences in the the meantime. Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition, however, does justice to the franchise by recognizing its flaws and working towards a better product. The collaboration with Indigenous consultants helps it regain its dignity by providing historical accuracy. Through these collaborations, developers were also able to solve gameplay issues that plagued all fans of the game. Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is by no means a perfect product, but it perfectly honors the spirit of the franchise.
Age Of Empires 3: Definitive Edition has been polished up considerably graphically. There is also a lot of content available. Unfortunately, the original design flaws have not or hardly been addressed. This is a game that generally wants to do too much, makes it too complex and doesn't give enough in return. This is a nice remaster of a game that we would rather not play.
The base version from 2005 was my childhood favourite game It was pleasure to see it renewed with modern time texture resolution standards. I also enjoyed that we now have the Swedes and the Incas but they should be put into the game already in 2005 together with the Polish nation :)
I would like to rank this game 8+ but the amount of bugs I experienced was to much, I lost all my saves after doing Steam integrity scan of the game and during the game play I had countless CTDs.

Aoe3 DE by itself is already a problematic game, but the fact that this was a remaster done by one of the largest companies on earth trully shows that the Dutch Diseases may also be present on the gaming industry.
For starters: I have no idea of why the game is so heavy and badly optimized (I will put my two cents on the new models). There are mods and fan projects of the original game with good enough designs that were infinitelly lighter than this one (and mind you, with a better color pallete and saturation).
Secondly, the multiplayer does not properly work. The age of Empires remakes and HDs are known for being bad, but the last AOE and AOE3 DE really settle a lower a bar from what was already underground.
Third: The game fortunatelly adds some aspects of fan patches of the original aoe3, but their insistency in archaic mechanics (like the way that some natives colect gold) leads to a more slugish game, as many of those mechanics dont fit here.
The menus got clumcky and confusing. Homecity cards are just ''thrown'' in the Metropolis without any visual consideration. Honestly, the visual designers don't seen to have put much tough on the subject at all.
Lastly, regarding the changes to some ''Problematic'' age names and abilities: Changing the Natives power of converting animals was a good move (even back them it was a Pocahantas steryotype) but everything else? Changing colonial to commerce, plantations, etc. They put their hand on a fire on purpose being fully aware that people would take that bait, and sure as hell it brought atention. But i don't recomend you biting it. Unecessary changes that only serve to havoc the community.
If you want to play Age Of Empires 3, buy the complete colection. It is cheap, it is light, it has a great fan patch (Esoc) and it works online.

For me this game was the best of the entire saga, nothing takes away from 2 but for me it was the best for the style of play it has. I was hoping for a modernization of the product with more features, features taken from the eso platform and starcraft2 (RTS made of gold in comparison), an even nicer chat and friends list system than Eso, impeccable balance, detailed (but not invasive) and user friendly, a professional observer screen like starcraft2 or age of empires 2 DE but all this did not happen, none of these points happened, despite the criticisms and advice, the lists written by the players and sent by pro players (especially the balanced) the Devs repealed every list every time, they just decided to add useless things, to solve some bugs as it should be but at the same time to make money through Pay to Win DLC where they forced you to buy it if you wanted to play tournaments or competitive (this really ****).
The quality of the product that was just released was practically in beta and has been for the whole year including the beginning of 2021. Afterwards, with the various updates they made it a playable game and little by little they fixed or added other useful but also useless things as DLC to buy new civilizations and make easy money while the game didn't even have 1 point mentioned on it, the game started to become more and more complex for new players and for old players who also had to learn the new useless civs with terrible RTS design (including many resources were reused from aoe2 and the wars of liberty mod so they didn't spend almost 1 penny to make these DLCs, including maps taken from the ESOC fan patch and only changed in **** me it is not a worthy product, many points are missing to make it finished and competitive but also for those who want to play it for fun, only of the idea that I have to use a third party program to play with a friend of mine because I don't even know when he is online in the I play and I can't search for players because there isn't a mechanism, I don't know if my mate is playing except if I write to him on discord, it's 2023 and there aren't even these mechanisms that the game had in 2005, I would say a bad step backwards with the quality, performance, interface and functionality of the product.
it's a thumbs down because they fixed bugs but the management behind it is terrible and their goal is only to spend 1 dollar and get 1000 out of it.
