Dreadnought is off to a good start. Whether Yager's pretty, engaging space battler has long-term legs will depend on how it grows the ship roster, and on how many people, overall, are willing to commit.
Game is awesome, it's space battleship Yamato that plays like assassin's creed's pirate ship battles mixed with a dogfighting flight sim.
The art direction is great too, the ships and military architecture of the levels are bad ass.
People what gives 0 show us only ignorance. Thats true this game waiting a long way, but was preety awesome for people who likes something like ships, cosmos etc. :) :p
Dreadnought in many ways successfully brings the World of Tanks formula to outer space with sci-fi flair, and the vertical movements of the ships add some depth. It’s often fun, but if you want to advance at a reasonable pace you’ll have to deal with an unreliably active PS4 player population and an XP system that requires a lot of grinding to unlock new ships.
Dreadnought offers a fun experience for anyone who has dreamed of commanding their own spaceship and battling against other people online. The triumphant feeling that comes with taking down an enemy with a well-timed volley of missiles, and watching as they go down slowly in flames, is an experience I would recommend to anyone.
All the low score review are just people getting angry because they lost a few matches. I spent a good amount of hours in the game and i can say the game has no p2w mechanics here, most paid items are cosmetic and you elite status only give you bonus exp and money (you team also get bonus if you are in battle). The rest is decide by your skill and how you outfit your ship, it's a multiplay game, some you win, some you lose. I recommend this to anyone who love spaceship and want to have a good time online.
Not a bad start to what can be an even better team based game.
I love that the different classes move at different speeds allowing the smaller crafts to be able to pester and flank larger classes like the Dreadnought.
This is not a fast paced game. Patience and teamwork will be rewarded along with use of terrain.
Still in beta so I can forgive the wait time to join multiplayer. I have been averaging about 2 minutes to join.
Tutorial although brisk, is just enough to give you the basics on moving, firing weapons and using the energy boost for one of the 3 systems (weapons, shields or engines).
Waiting to see if more maps and cosmetic items are added in the future.
It's a sad attempt really, and it's a shame, because the game idea and look are both pretty neat. I mean, who don't want to fly a monstrous capital space ship into the fray?
However Dreadnought is just... awful. I played a couple of hours, and we steamrolled or got steamrolled in a dumb as hell Team Deathmatch mode that was basically either both sides standing in place shooting at each other or two sides circling around scoring some hits. There was no strategy, no planning, no fun in these enounters and all ships pretty much felt the same, despite their assigned roles and guns... Mostly due to gameplay muddling down to "Lock onto a SLOW AS HELL big target and keep pressing Left mouse button to smash".
This turned out to be obviously extremely boring and without even a smidgen of a thrill to it. Add the constant **** to get 'Elite', painful, World of Tank'ish grind through the tech tree and stupid as hell tutorial and you got a really bad game. Even steering your ship is clunky! No strafing? No side boosters? You feel like you are moving a very obsolete wooden barge, not advanced spaceship.
Conclusion? Go and spend your cash on Fractured Space - their MOBA mechanics, tight controls and fantastic menu of very different ships offers what Dreadnought would like to be... Just Fractured Space does it really well.
Graphics are really sub par for a PS4 game at this point. Just takes World of Tanks business model and amplifies it to the point of tedium. Sorry but I just am not interested in another pay for everything grind fest arena, bad matchmaking, overpowered ship everyone uses, slug fest of everyone stand around and first at each until someone wins. Moving your ships feels like an earth worm slugging through mud. Nothing really interested here. Could have potential, but it will just fall flat on its face quickly. pass....Healing is way overpowered...
Complete garbage ****.
Terrible user interface. Only a few type of skills and ship designed swapped around a few combinations. Heavy flak cannons that do less damage than flak cannons. Melee fighters with no HP. Healing that makes ships essentially invincible especially if you got more than one healer. You essentially just sit there stationary firing or healing for some ships. You cant even change the camera angle to look at somewhere else. The warping is for a set short difference, the direction control is bugged and doesnt work properly sometimes.
Game modes which are essentially the same just with different names. Basically kill the other team reach either 100 or 300 points. One of the mode offers a command ship that is worth more points. All the other modes you will never get a game started because there are no players.
Lots of balance issues that will not get addressed. Lackluster "contracts". The game basically copies from other games and has no unique idea of its own. It is also extremely grindy. Ship prices and subscription like "elite" status is very pricy. It is impossible to progress past tier 3 without elite status boosts.
The battle itself is a huge mess too. Its not really about dreadnoughts either. They are not really much bigger than the other ships and its really more about the other ships particularly the healers rather than dreadnoughts. Also you need to be in a team to coordinate otherwise it will be extremely hard to fight. Then there's the camera angles, terrible minimap, information given on ships, markers, endless list of problems.
Its just complete garbage and total lack of effort and any idea what they are doing. It also doesnt look like it will be fixed considering how long this game has been in development. This game is not worth your while. Stay away, particularly if you are on the PS4. The controls are harder to use.
SummaryFocused on the wars waged between massive space battleships, Dreadnought aims to put you in the midst of large-scale battles while making you manage all of the systems of such spacecraft.
