Army Defender is pretty much all you can ask for, a cheap and simple timewaster that can be replayed as much as you want. There isn't a whole lot of different stuff in it but what's there works well. You have to aim precisely and quickly to both keep your combo going and your wall healthy, the powerups give you precious seconds of wiping out all those enemies that were so much Army Defender is pretty much all you can ask for, a cheap and simple timewaster that can be replayed as much as you want. There isn't a whole lot of different stuff in it but what's there works well. You have to aim precisely and quickly to both keep your combo going and your wall healthy, the powerups give you precious seconds of wiping out all those enemies that were so much trouble before and timing your "fury" bombs right is important. My only complaint would be the length of a full game, if you really try to play until you run out of lives a game can last 30+ minutes which is a bit too long for a quick play on the commute and I often end the game before I've lost all lives (which of course isn't good for highscore hunting). 1. It does a good job of bringing the popular "defense" game to DSiWare and is fun to play.
  2. A cute if unsophisticated castle defence game, Army Defender is fun to play but doesn't offer much of a challenge.

    It's cheap, it's cheerful and it's relatively compelling. [Jan 2010, p.85]
