As far as fighters go, this one is actually pretty decent and fresh. Sure, the controls are odd, and the story mode is whack, but the combo system is solid, and the soundtrack is good, though lacking some of the classic Guilty Gear songs (No Mercy is regretfully absent here, but I did hear Lady Fascination in there), but four player fights are FUN, even if three of the fighters are the As far as fighters go, this one is actually pretty decent and fresh. Did I mention that there's a customizable fighter in here too? Sadly, he doesn't have very many moves...ah, well, Guilty Gear fans will not be disappointed. Collapse

As an avid Guilty Gear fan, this game was the single most disappointing thing I have ever played. Even ignoring the fact that it clearly can't play like a regular GG game due to the 4-player and multi-tiered stages, it doesn't even play well as a party brawler. Heck, Guilty Gear Advance was a much more faithful adaptation of the series than this. If you want a fun party brawler, buy Jump Ultimate Stars. Expand

As long as you don't compare it to any of the other Guilty Gear games, this is a very solid fighting game on the DS and quite frankly, one of the only ones available.

  1. When not playing single-player or against friends, spend some time with one of seven mini-games; okay, so they're not all that fun, but playing it will unlock pieces for building your own custom Robo Ky, which is. [May 2006, p.61]
  2. Of course, there are a number of much better multiplayer titles on the DS, but it's something. [May 2006, p.110]

It's too bad that Guilty Gear: Dust Strikers had to sacrifice some of its progenitors strongest features to enact new and engaging gameplay changes because the new enhancements for Dust Strikers really do add something new to the franchise, however; judging the entire game as a whole leaves it wanting.
