The track variety could be better, but there's a good bit to see in the world of Monster Racers. Online tournaments, single-card multiplayer, and trading all add real value to an already fun package.
The campaign adventure is a colorful and exuberant affair. There's a lot to explore, and the 2D racing and the monster-rearing elements quickly become the most addictive aspects of the game.
The racing is repetitive and boring but the monster-collecting and presentation make up for that. [July 2010, p.65]
It’s too bad there’s so little variety, because this could’ve been a great game.
While Monster Racers is an enjoyable way to while away a car trip or fill the time between longer, more substantial games, it is ultimately an inessential addition to most game libraries.
