    As far as edutainment games goes, My Word Coach is one of the better ones I have spent time with and one in which nearly anyone age 8 or older should be able to get something out of.

    True, it all feels more like doing homework than playing a game. But the incentive to keep going is you do find yourself learning new words. If that appeals, My Word Coach offers a stylishly presented, relatively entertaining way of doing it.

    A genuinely-useful vocabulary-expanding tool, and just palatable enough in its activities for the conditioned gamer. It’s on the dry, academic side, of course - it’s an ‘edutainment’ title, isn’t it? - but it’s definitely challenging, and might even make you sound smarter, or pass the SAT.

    This is a classic case of a good idea with lackluster execution, making My Word Coach the kind of game that I'd like to see followed up with an expanded and improved sequel.

    I do have quite a good vocabulary and this did help me to improve it but after I unlocked all of the games, it did start to get very boring. Also, the music is dreadful and extremely annoying. However, for the purposes of being an educational game, it scores a seven and is quite fun when you start playing for the first time.… Full Review »

    Barely OK: games have 'off' feeling, challenges frustrating, letter recognition chancy sometimes, and worst of all, my rating went to 40% (University Graduate) after a couple of days, but my vocabulary had only changed slightly. The interface is a bit clumsy. While determining your vocabulary initially, it uses a very interesting list of very unusual words which, regrettably, can't be viewed.     Not terribly fun or educational, and gets old quickly. I was hoping for more context-based use of the vocabulary, but of the mini-games I';ve unlocked so far, it seems that you are expected to learn vocabulary based on 1 short definition for each word. Sometimes I found it hard to think of a way that I could use a new word in a sentence, based on the definition. If it included sentences for each word in future version, I would give it another try.… Full Review »
