  • Summary: [DSiWare; Also known as "Sujin Taisen: Number Battles"] From Japan comes NUMBER BATTLE, a board game that invokes the ancient art of feng shui while challenging players to clear the playing field. Take turns against human or computer opponents to reach a target score by placing numbered tiles on the board and linking the arms of each tile in various ways. Watch for the Winds of Change to possibly blow over the board during a battle, resulting in special squares that will score bonus points or affect game play in new ways. Items that aid you in your pursuit of points can also be found, but they'll cost you points and must be placed strategically. Go it alone in the main Story or Puzzle modes, or battle against up to three opponents from around the world via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection (broadband Internet access required). You can even learn from your past with History mode, which shows the moves recorded during previous contests. This unique combination of puzzle and strategy elements results in an exciting battle of wits. Can you guide your Warrior to victory? [Nintendo] Expand

  1. Number Battle may be a niche title, but don’t let that discourage you from trying one of the most enjoyable games in the DSiWare Store.
  2. Overall Sujin Taisen: Number Battles is perhaps one of the strongest titles on the DSiWare service yet.
  3. A nice chance to try a solid Puzzle Game that finally leaves Japan shores thanks to DsiWare service.
  4. A pleasant surprise, this should appeal to fans of strategy and board games. [Nov 2009, p.104]
  5. It would've been overlooked as a retail release, but as a download this unique puzzler is a real bargain.

It's a shame that I just now discovered this game in July 2011. Downloaded out of boredom, and was pleasantly surprised to find an engaging game that turns a simple formula into an engaging experience. If you're a fan of games involving numbers (Sudoku, etc.) you will be pleasantly surprised. I'm not sure if this game had much of an online fan base, but I haven't been able to connect for more than one battle so far. Number Battle has a standard challenge mode, and a puzzle mode, which tasks you with attempting to acheive a set score with the tiles provided in a certain number of moves. This is a great title which unfortunately, alot of people overlooked. Expand
