It's no Layton, but puzzle-fiends might find it's worth a try of it's spotted cheap. [Aug 2010, p.72]
Sherlock Holmes has many elements in common with professor Layton, but the poor quality of the puzzles and of the story makes it a worse game than the Level 5 masterpiece.
It's certainly not a bad game, just a decidedly mediocre one, so unless you're in the mood for a fairly lightweight puzzle-adventure, a purchase is not so elementary this time.
Sherlock Holmes and the Mystery of Osborne House misses the interesting riddles and also has a lot of text instead of puzzles, which does make it boring quite a bit.
Inspired by Professor Layton, Frogwares delivers here a substitute which lacks creativity and temper.
Sherlock Holmes and the Mystery of Osbourne House is neither pretty good nor as good as any of the games in the Professor Layton series that it's trying to emulate. Why you'd play this game, when you could play any of the games it draws inspiration from is the real mystery.
