  1. With great core gameplay, tons of unlockables, a cast of memorable characters, and an audio visual feast for the senses, Super Princess Peach is a must play. [JPN Import]
  2. It reminds us all of the magic Nintendo can cast when it comes to 2D platforming, and whether you are a seasoned player breezing through the game, or a newcomer just getting your goomba-stomping legs, this is an instant classic that is sure to impress.
  3. netjak
Old-schoolers who cut their teeth on the original Bros. have a lot to enjoy in Super Princess Peach, while new players will find an excellent and challenging introduction into one of gaming's most venerable and popular genres.
  4. It dashes a bit of action-RPG into the classic Mario recipe with delicious results. If you're a more casual Mario fan, or just afraid of bruising your masculine pride, you might be better off with New Super Mario Bros., which should be out by the time you read this article.
  5. Game Informer
While she's traditionally been either a hostage or a benchwarmer in the Mario universe, here Peach takes center stage in a full-blown, original platformer that will be instantly addictive to fans of games like Super Mario Bros. 3 or Super Mario World. [Mar 2006, p.118]
  6. The jump and action buttons are very responsive to what Peach needs to do in order to save her friends.
  7. Play Magazine
So, take some of the best ideas from Mario and Kirby and throw in a lot of fun item collection and fantastic attention to detail and you have Super Princess Peach. [Apr 2006, p.73]
  8. I would’ve loved to see Nintendo challenge gamers more with a stiffer difficulty, but in the end there’s way too much enjoyment to be had here to get too bent out of shape.
  9. While it presents nearly perfect platforming, primarily young ones and frantic fans will favor the game.
  10. Although the storyline, sound effects and soundtrack are different, the 2D, side-scrolling gameplay is bound to give experienced gamers deja vu.
  11. The game’s two biggest failings are that it’s too short and too easy.
  12. Games Master UK
Outrageously happy and bouncy platforming action that's just a touch on the easy side. [May 2006, p.64]
  13. Pelit (Finland)
A solid 2D platformer. Because of its overall easiness, it is best suited for younger players and beginners. [Aug 2006, p.51]
  14. Super Princess Peach is cute, delightfully absurd, and a true-blue Mario game, but still a bit easy. It's probably worth fifty clams to a hardcore Mario fan, but maybe a bit iffy for someone looking for a challenge. [JPN Import]
  15. Super Princess Peach will be enjoyed most by those gamers who tackled Nintendo's platformers in the pre-64 days. There’s a lot to collect and for once you get to save Mario. [JPN Import]
  16. 80
The only ailment of Super Princess Peach is its severely easy difficulty, but that doesn't take the fun away from the game.
  17. 80
This is a true rarity: a game for all ages that's still good enough to entertain anyone who likes Mario.
  18. 80
The beautiful, hand-drawn sprites are incredibly rich in color and detail and the animations only add to the overall charm.
  19. AceGamez
In an age of ever advancing graphics and game complexity, this return to retro-style gaming, with a few modern touches, is very welcome.
  20. With all the focus previously on Mario and Luigi, Princess Peach steps up with her own adventure. Solid gameplay and sweet Nintendo visual treatment makes this a winner.
  21. 78
A fine platformer with plenty of references to its classic Mushroom Kingdom franchise. Just keep in mind that it won't be nearly as challenging to complete.
  22. The main game is fun, depite being easy and short, and the added content from unlocking items adds a good amount to the title’s lifespan.
  23. Electronic Gaming Monthly
It's a Mario game draped in pink and dipped in a vat of sparkles. [Mar 2006, p.110]
  24. Nintendo Power
At its core, the game plays, not surprisingly, a lot like older 2-D Mario titles. [Apr 2006, p.83]
  25. The new Princess Peach packs a punch, plus a parasol named Perry. A powerful pair? Precisely.
  26. In the end the game has some content, but it is too easy. If they were trying to re-revolutionize this type of game, they fell dramatically short of that goal.
  27. For the younger girls out there that are used to playing trash games like Care Bears, Barbie, or the countless movie knock-off games, this game will be a Godsend.
  28. I'd definitely recommend that you play Super Princess Peach. You're very likely to enjoy it if you are a fan of sidescrollers.
  29. It's an interesting bit of role-reversal for Peach, and it does a good job of defining itself outside the Mario formula, but the game is just too easy for its own good.
  30. games(TM)
Super Princess Peach is a forgiving and entertaining slice of a game that’s at its most successful when it evokes the same feeling as a two-dimensional Mario. [Christmas 2005, p.103]
  31. 70
In terms of platforming gameplay, what's on offer here is pretty basic and simple, and certainly not anywhere near as deep or rewarding as "Super Mario Bros. 3" or "Super Mario World."
  32. This one's for kids or those looking for a cheery, laid-back adventure.
  33. 70
Younger DS owners, especially female ones, will lap it right up, finding the challenge level and frequent save points a good fit.
  34. It's quite unlikely that the intended audience for Super Princess Peach ever played "Super Mario Bros" back in the day, or perhaps any of the many sequels - and therefore is almost likely to be a newcomer to the platform genre. And if that's the case, Peach is a perfect primer, just in time for "New Super Mario Bros" in a few months time.
  35. 70
The calmer style of platforming in Super Princess Peach will not appeal to everyone, but for those that found Sonic too intense to play all the way through, this has a lot to offer.
  36. NGC Magazine UK
Quite straightforward but solid enjoyment - it's not just for girls who like crying, though they'll probably like it too. [June 2006, p.33]
  37. Super Princess Peach is a platform game taken straight off a Nintendo blueprint; it has the charm and simplicity reminiscent of the “good old days” and yet remains fresh thanks to solid, original gameplay.
  38. Could Super Princess Peach have been a better game? Yes, it most certainly could have. But is this still a fun game that you should give a shot? Definitely.
  39. Although I suppose that Super Princess Peach is an example of Nintendo slumming for cash, it also proves that even when Nintendo is slumming, it churns out stuff that isn't really that bad. It may not be memorable or very exciting, but it's not bad.
  40. 65
Even when one can look past the sugar-coated glaze, you cannot look past the somewhat plain and lacklustre level design, generic puzzles and that it is difficulty-deficient.
  41. Edge Magazine
There’s certainly something to be said for such a calming, stress-free adventure – a game that goes out of its way to provide a holiday as much as it does entertainment. [Mar 2006, p.95]
  42. 60
It looks and sounds great, controls well, offers up a solid quest and good extras. It's getting the score that it is not because of its flaws, but just because it isn't better.
  43. Kudos to Nintendo for giving us a glimpse of how things would be on the flip side of the world, with Peach saving the day for a change...even if she's crying or storming through it.
  44. Super Princess Peach is not a truly remarkable title on the scale of Mario & Luigi, not only as it's not very funny, but its innovations in interface and design actually make it slightly less fun than it might be if you played it 'straight'.
  45. It's a sedate, relaxing and simple platform-jumping quest suited to young gaming newcomers.
  46. Computer Games Magazine
Super Princess unremarkable platformer that plays like an introduction to the genre. [Jun 2006, p.91]
  47. Super Princess Peach is Super Mario for dummies. It's also Super Mario for girls, who, according to Nintendo, are just dumber versions of men that get all emotional when they can't find their vibro wands.
  48. Super Princess Peach is as average as they come.

I also liked how Perry lets Peach attack without having to jump on people's heads, it was annoying to me in the Mario games. Sadly, a lot of the levels were too easy and too hard for me. I also had to free all the toads from every single level in order to face the Final Boss.

Positives:Peach is finally the main character, Vibe moves are easy to use, attacks are more convenient with Perry around.

Negatives:Perry's backstory interferes with Peach's storyline, some sexist undertones, and some levels are too easy and too hard.

Super Princess Peach is an enjoyable platformer with some neat ideas. Unfortunately it does suffer from some very irritating level design. Super Princess Peach is an enjoyable platformer with some neat ideas. Unfortunately it does suffer from some very irritating level design. Throughout each level there are a number of totally unnecessary warp pipes that can take you to different parts of the level. But these serve absolutely no purpose other than to confuse and frustrate (which they do immensely). Also, the developer has gone for (what I like to call) kitchen-sink game design, and thrown in lots of extra things to fatten the game up, ie. loads of collectable items...... Full Review »
