Bubble Bobble is as addictive as it has ever been and for that reason alone this game is a must-buy purchase, regardless of which version you want to play. Buy it now!
It gets away with it because of several elements: its budget price, its cartridge save, its link cable mode, its hidden extras via D-pad and button codes...and, more importantly, because Bubble Bobble's still a simple and fun classic game.
For being something we celebrated so much, it's really just a mediocre game with one of the best tunes of all time, and that's not truly enough to be nostalgic about.
A final point to raise is why Taito felt the need to demand that multi-player link mode would only work with 12 levels of the old version? It's hard enough to justify buying this ancient classic as it is, without removing the last temptation from the already hard pressed gamer.
SummaryThe classic is back! Bub and Bob's girlfriends have been kidnapped and it's your job to save them! Capture the villians in your bubbles and pop your way to victory.
