The lack of any real save feature is a huge downside, absolutely, but at least the developers come through with an extremely well designed and challenging dirt-bike racer.
  2. It actually contains a good, unique mechanic for turning which lets you slide around curves and even whip out a muddy 180 degrees if you want. [Aug 2003, p.104]
  3. The racing itself is fine, but the flawed trick system makes things more simplistic when it should have added more depth.
  4. Eight great racers, tons of ripping bikes and the rocking tunes, complete with vocal tracks, give the game a cool edge. [Sept 2003, p.138]
  5. The technique associated with controlling the motorbike that makes Freekstyle such an entertaining diversion from other racing games, and the sound effects and music are easily among the best available on the handheld to date.
  6. About as average a motocross game as one could expect. It's not bad but it sure lacks magic of any kind.

Various goodies you can unlock and a multiplayer option save the game from being a total washout, but this title is otherwise an uninspired take on a sport that ought to be played at the extreme.
